Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Reportedly Agree on Fee for Santi Cazorla

Arsenal has been aggressive in the transfer window this summer, and according to Soccernet, the Gunners have their sights on a star in La Liga.

Arsenal could be set to sign winger Santi Cazorla from financially-troubled Malaga for around €20 million as they have reportedly agreed terms with the Spain star.

Cazorla, 27, was a target for Arsenal last summer, but Malaga's worsening financial situation makes a move increasingly likely despite the Spanish club's attempts to discourage suitors by stressing the €45 million buy-out clause in his contract.

Cazorla is a versatile player who can score goals as a winger or a set up the attack as a central midfielder. He should be in the starting XI but would also be a fantastic weapon off the bench. He's one of the best players in La Liga and was part of the Spain squad that won Euro 2012.

If Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby's injury problems continue at any point this season, Cazorla would give Wenger another very talented midfielder to keep the squad strong. He didn't have a player like Cazorla on the bench last season for the midfield.

It's a bit surprising to see Wenger reportedly willing to pay this much money for a player who is 27 years old, but it does show the club's desire to win now. Arsenal need a trophy next season and bringing players of Cazorla's caliber will help the squad reach this goal.

Arsenal should do everything possible to ensure this transfer is completed. Cazorla is a fantastic player who can upgrade the Gunners in many different ways.
