MLB Trade Rumors: Will Josh Johnson Be on the Move from Miami?
There is a lot of interest around Miami Marlins starting pitcher Josh Johnson as the trade deadline draws nearer, but the Marlins would need to be blown out of the water to make a trade happen.
As Johnson started at night, many scouts were in attendance. Among the contenders for his services were the Boston Red Sox (according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe), the Texas Rangers (according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News) and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (according to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com).
However, at the same time as you have all of this interest in Johnson, you have Scott Miller of CBS Sports reporting that according to a source, the Marlins are likely to hang onto the right-handed pitcher.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Even if he is off limits, wanting to acquire Johnson is definitely understandable. He has had an injury-riddled career, but when he is healthy, he has shown that he can be one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.
Over his entire career, he is 53-30 with a 3.10 ERA. On top of that, if you look at his career ratio of hits per nine innings, you'll find the opponents only manage 8.2 hits per nine innings. It then make sense why his ERA has been lower.
So will he really be on the move?
Even though the Marlins deny it, it is going to be very difficult for them to compete this year. If they move him, the prospect return would be huge. Plus, why not sell high right now? He has one year of team control left, but that benefit will be gone if they wait too long.
They might say that Johnson won't move, but if the next week is difficult and the Marlins fall even further behind, they might finally bend at the deadline to take advantage of the incredibly high price that Johnson will most likely command.
