WWE Summerslam 2012: Can Triple H Work an MMA-Style Match with Brock Lesnar?

David LevinJun 1, 2018

It's hard to switch gears toward SummerSlam right after such an awesome night with Raw's 1,000 episode, but now we can set our sights on the biggest event of the summer.

And now that Brock Lesnar, err Paul Heyman, accepted Triple H and Stephanie McMahon's challenge to face the King of Kings at SummerSlam, we can focus on the main event.

On a side note, am I the only one thought Stephanie was awesome last night? She really needs a bigger role on screen. And while the WWE is at it, add Lita to that list as well.

Okay, enough with the stroll down memory lane, let's get back to the story (I am easily sidetracked).

With everything we have seen from Lesnar of late, which is not much, mainly because the WWE in my opinion is ruining his momentum, can he and Triple H really work a solid MMA-style match? Can the older COO of the WWE work a style he is not used to and be as effective as he ever has been?

I personally think Triple H is a better fit for an MMA-style event than John Cena was, which shocked us all at Extreme Rules.

This may not be Extreme Rules coming up, but it could be an even better match with more blood and more intrigue.

And also, while we are at it, please bring back Sable!

Triple H's stature and his physique allow him to hold his own in the ring. At times, John Cena looked lost in the ring while Lesnar was in his element with the ground and pound, and the arm bars and the holds are More punishing.

Triple H will sell for Lesnar and vice versa. Cena doesn't sell for anyone (except CM Punk).

Triple H is also the kind of character who can absorb a loss and can come back for a potential rematch and re-sell the feud. Few wrestlers can do that right now (Punk, Christian, Kane).

I just think when you look at the match, the feud and the buildup, Triple H will deliver. But you also have to wonder since we have not seen Lesnar much and don't figure to see much of him for the next three weeks, will he be able to hold his end of the match?

In this case, it would appear Triple H has the upper hand.
