WWE RAW 1000th Episode: Breaking Down Latest Buzz on Potential Returning Stars

Donald WoodJul 23, 2012

With the historic 1,000th episode of WWE’s Raw scheduled for tonight, the company’s willingness to go all-out for this show has rumors flying.

As hard as it is to tell the lies from the truth, several sources have confirmed huge names for the show. We’re going to bring you all of the latest rumors from around the web.

Names like The Rock, Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels have announced their returns, but there are a plethora of superstars that will be returning as a surprise.

Look for names like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Undertaker, JBL, DDP and so many more to help bring the younger WWE fans to the wrestling that made us fall in love.

RAW 1000 will be a three-hour long nostalgia pop, and I’m perfectly fine with that.

6. Other Rumored Stars

1 of 6

According to Rajah.com, all of the following names are in St. Louis and could be on RAW’s 1,000th episode.

* Billy Gunn

* Bob Backlund

* "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

* Jim Ross

* Lita

* Mae Young

* "Mean" Gene Okerlund

* Psycho Sid

* Road Warrior Animal

* Ron Simmons

* "Rowdy" Roddy Piper

* Ryan Shamrock (Likely Ken, but report says Ryan)

* X-Pac

5. Brock and Heyman Together at Last

2 of 6

While they have been working together for the past few months, the duo of Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman hasn’t been seen on camera together in a long time.

That’s all about to change!

PWinsider.com is reporting that Lesnar and Heyman will  be working together Monday night, which seems to stop the talk of Brock attacking DX. Don’t be surprised, though, if Lesnar jumps DX and then lets Heyman cut a promo for him.

Despite the fact that I hate Brock’s boring promos, he is one of the best stars in history if you count the fact that his mouthpiece was Heyman. Together, they are one of the greatest manager/star combinations in wrestling history.

4. Bret Hart

Something tells me this episode of Raw will be great. Maybe even the greatest there ever was.

Cheesy jokes aside, according to PWMania.com, Bret Hart is scheduled to be part of WWE’s biggest episode and has landed in St Louis. Someone is getting a sharpshooter!

Hart had some of the best heat in wrestling with Vince McMahon. The hope is that they can rekindle that flame one more time. Vince McMahon will have a very busy night.

Who doesn’t want to see Hart kick Vinny Mac while he’s down?

3. JBL and DDP

4 of 6

The WWE has brought back a plethora of older former champions, but two of the biggest are rumored to be returning, according to Rajah.com: John Bradshaw Layfield and Diamond Dallas Page.

Both men were multiple-time champions and were two of the bigger stars of their respective eras. But now they will be seen on a WWE screen for this younger generation to enjoy.

I don’t know what the WWE has planned for this duo, but it should be great.

JBL should be on commentary for at least a match, and I would love to see DDP diamond-cut at least one more star.

Both men talked to Ring Rust Radio about their WWE returns: JBL or DDP

2. Undertaker

5 of 6

There is only one wrestler that is currently active that was on the first ever episode of WWE’s Raw all the way back in 1993: The Undertaker.

Between the release of his DVD and the low period in the company, marching Undertaker to the ring is a no-brainer.

PWinsider is reporting via Rajah.com that both the Undertaker and his wife Michelle McCool are in St. Louis for this week’s Raw. For those who love the Dead Man, this is an absolute dream.

While working all Monday was tough, the fact that the fans could be given both the Undertaker and the star at the No. 1 spot is amazing.

1. Stone Cold Steve Austin

6 of 6

There is no better WWE superstar in the history of the business than Stone Cold Steve Austin, and his appearance at the 1,000th episode of Raw is absolutely mandatory. The man put Raw on the map.

If you agree with me, give me a hell yeah!

According to NoDQ.com, the Texas Rattlesnake is in St. Louis for Raw and will take part in the show. While his appearance and what he is doing has been kept secret, there is little doubt that anything Austin does will be memorable.

If the WWE was smart, it would allow Stone Cold to interrupt Mr. McMahon again...for old time’s sake.
