USA vs. Spain: Start Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview for Olympics Warm-Up
Team USA is preparing to finish their rigorous exhibition schedule with a highly anticipated match against their biggest rivals, Spain.
This American squad has only been playing organized basketball since July 12, when they destroyed the Dominican Republic out in Las Vegas. Now must band together to take on a team they will almost certainly meet in the 2012 Summer Olympic finals.
Keep reading to find out where you can watch the action and who you should keep an eye on during the contest, as well as a prediction of the outcome.
Where: Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona, Spain
When: Tuesday, July 24 at 4:30 p.m. ET
Watch: ESPN2
Live Stream: ESPN3
Key Player to Watch: Kevin Durant
KD has been absolutely lighting it up, and he found his groove as a starter against Argentina on Sunday.
The OKC Thunder superstar totaled 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and a ridiculous 7-11 from beyond the arc. To round out his superb game, Durant dished six dimes, grabbed two boards, swatted two shots and racked up two steals.
He’s easily the best scorer on the team and likely in the entire world. Spain does not have a comparable player on the roster to match the Durantula’s transcendent scoring ability.
A good showing from Durant on Tuesday night should equal a Team USA victory.
Most Important Matchup: Tyson Chandler vs. Gasol brothers
Spain has a huge advantage in the post in this contest. With Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka in the lineup, La Roja will absolutely destroy the undersized Americans on the glass and find a way to get easy buckets in the paint.
Tyson Chandler is the main line of defense for the Yanks, and he must play up to his Defensive Player of the Year billing in order to properly protect the rim.
The Spanish are adept at scoring and will not have a problem matching Team USA point-for-point for much of the game. The Americans cannot afford to allow them to score at will down low, or it will be over before it gets started.
Prediction: USA 110 – Spain 108
