Manchester City Transfer News: Tracking All the Latest Rumors and Updates

Dan TalintyreJun 7, 2018

It’s been somewhat of a relatively quiet summer transfer window for Manchester City so far with no huge signings to report.

The Citizens have been wisely biding their time as the rumors continue—linking the club to several high-profile stars regarding potential moves this summer.

Are City in with a shot to land Robin van Persie? Will they land teenage sensation M’Baye Niang?

Read on to find the answers to these questions and see who could be making their way to the Etihad over the transfer window.

Nigel De Jong

Kicking off our list is Manchester City enforcer Nigel de Jong, who is rumored to have captured the attention of German giants Bayern Munich.

After losing his starting spot in the Citizens' midfield last season, de Jong could well be open to a move should it provide regular starting time, and Manchester City could also be open to the idea of cashing in the Dutch international for the right price.

Daniele De Rossi

Manchester City are believed to have rekindled their interest in Italian defender Daniele De Rossi who, despite being on contract at Roma until 2017, has captured the attention of Roberto Mancini once again.

City tried to sign De Rossi this time last year, but were reluctant to pay such a high price for the defender—a decision they have apparently changed this transfer window, with the club rumored to be considering a £23.5 million offer for the 28-year-old.

Martin Skrtel

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be in a fight with Manchester City for the services of Martin Skrtel for the upcoming season.

With contract talks breaking down between Skrtel and the Reds, City have swooped for the defender—though Rodgers has confirmed that no official bid has been made for the 27-year-old, who reportedly declined an interview with the club's own television network about his future.

Robin Van Persie

4 of 8

Robin van Persie is a hot prospect this summer and Manchester City are in a race with rivals Manchester United and Italian champions Juventus for the Gunners striker.

City will likely have to offer upwards of £25 million to secure Van Persie this season, with Mark Ogden and Jeremy Wilson of The Telegraph both making interesting points on the saga.

"

If he [Robin van Persie] continues to push for a move and [Arsene] Wenger feels that the unity of his squad is threatened, Arsenal will have to decide whether they are willing to compromise on the fee... [as a result] the financial firepower of City makes them them favorites.

Roque Santa Cruz

Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz has stated that he would be open to a move to Queens Park Rangers over the summer transfer window.

It would be the third stint under Mark Hughes for the striker who is unlikely to feature prominently for the Citizens this season, thanks to the depth in attack of Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli.

Emmanuel Adebayor

6 of 8

Tottenham Hotspur's plan to sign Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent deal could be tougher than expected with Lokomotiv Moscow believed to be interested in signing the striker.

With Spurs seemingly unwilling to meet the £175,000 per-week player wages that Adebayor would require, the Russian club could well be a surprise landing destination for Adebayor, who also is unlikely to feature for Manchester City this season.

M'Baye Niang

7 of 8

Manchester City are believed to be in a close race with Arsenal for the services of talented French teenager M'Baye Niang.

The Premier League champions are though to be the favorites to land the star, given their direct move and financial backing.

Carlos Tevez

8 of 8

And wrapping up our transfer news is Carlos Tevez, who is rumored to be leaving the Premier League champions for Italian club AC Milan.

Sources close to the striker have reportedly stated that City will sell Tevez to Milan—who are desperate to sign a star-striker following the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Paris St. Germain—despite Roberto Mancini insisting he will not be leaving the club.

Will be interesting to see where this one ends up.
