NBA Trade Rumors: Latest on Dwight Howard Saga
It is beginning to look as if Dwight Howard will be a member of the Orlando Magic for another season but, in this roller coaster saga, who knows?
Ric Bucher of ESPN quoted Dwight Howard's agent, Dan Fegan:
""Dwight's position has remained unchanged since the end of this past season. He fully intends to explore free agency at the end of next season, regardless of what team trades for him, including Brooklyn."
"
That would seem to throw a monkey wrench in trade plans to the Los Angeles Lakers. But, the Rockets have seemingly been interested in renting Howard's services.
That could be why new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan is optimistic about moving Howard. Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick tweeted:
""Before I duck out again, a Dwight Howard note: the Magic, I'm told, are hopeful that they can pull the trigger on a deal by early August (although I certainly couldn't tell you which one it might be)."
"
This trade saga has been the most annoying in the history of sports. Some of it is Howard's fault, as he has been far from transparent through this time.
Some of the blame falls on folks like myself. We have been forced to overreact to every "legitimate" peep that comes out about Howard. Any respecting publications wants to have quality and important information.
But, in reality, most of it has been much ado about nothing.
All of the hoopla has seemingly made it impossible for the team to go to camp with Howard in uniform, but you never know. It almost seems as though Howard's agent declaring his client will test free agency was a shot at the Magic.
Could he have been upset the Magic didn't take the Brooklyn Nets deal, and now he's going to make a deal anywhere else difficult?
What, a soap opera?
