WWE 1,000th Monday Night Raw Looks to Be One of Its Most Memorable Episodes

Daniel PeragineJul 22, 2012

On Monday night, July 23rd, the WWE will present quite possibly its most historic and most memorable show. Monday Night Raw will turn a new chapter by airing its 1,000th episode. From what has been hyped over the past several weeks, Raw looks to be an extremely intriguing three-hour program to watch.

After all, this is a monumental moment in pro wrestling history.

Raw is the longest running weekly program on television in the United States. The WWE has defied so many odds, from growing to one of the most popular sports entertainment program in the world to nearly going out of business.

Right now, Monday nights could have been WCW Nitro. WCW came extremely close to knocking Vince McMahon's promotion out of business for good. When Nitro began airing, the WWE found itself behind its main competition and became the second best promotion in wrestling. For nearly two consecutive years, it was WCW who was No. 1.

Raw, who lagged behind Nitro in the ratings, made a surging comeback when the Attitude Era of professional wrestling started. Raw defied all odds by gaining back control of what was known as the Monday Night Wars. If Raw had no life in itself, viewers could be witnessing WCW history. Raw became one of the edgiest shows on television, which won over major ratings.

When WCW officially closed its doors in 2001, WWE Raw continued its weekly programming with no stiff competition. Thus, the WWE maintained in business and is now presenting its 1,000th episode of Monday Night Raw.

This special edition of Monday Night Raw looks to be very promising (via WWE.com).

The D-Generation X will kick off Raw with a special reunion.

Brock Lesnar is also expected to address Triple H on whether he will accept his match challenge at WWE SummerSlam. Daniel Bryan and AJ will be celebrating a milestone night, as they are ready to get married on Raw.

Christian will be defending his Intercontinental is Championship.

In what seems to be the main event, John Cena will square off against WWE Champion CM Punk for the title. There will also be an announcement on the new General Manager for Raw.

Also expected is the return of The Rock and other WWE stars.

My Quick Take on the 1,000th Raw

This is a show I have been eying for quite sometime. This show has the potential to be one of WWE's most memorable episodes in history. I am excited to see who will make their one night returns to the WWE and fully expect the three-hour program to be worth watching every second.

All in all, the 1000th episode of Raw will be a must watch for most wrestling fans. Just to even say Raw has produced 1,000 episodes is phenomenal itself. It has survived through it all and the show that helped the WWE win against the WCW.

Raw has produced one of the most spectacular television runs in the late 1990s when its ratings sky rocked in wrestling's hottest era. Today, Monday Night Raw brings about large arena crowds and continues its longest weekly episode run in television history.

Lets see what strings the WWE will pull on Monday night.
