British Open Leaderboard 2012: Tiger Woods, Favorites Lead the Way at Open
The leaderboard at the 2012 British Open is loaded with stars.
Tiger Woods is lurking after shooting an even-par round of 70 on Saturday, though he's five shots back of leader Adam Scott, who carries a four-stroke lead into Sunday's final round.
It's Scott's tournament to lose, now, and all he really needs to do is make pars on Sunday to put the pressure on his fellow competitors. That said, it's not out of the realm of possibility for us to see one or two players below him make a strong charge with a barrage of birdies in Round 4.
Scott has never won a major before. Heck, he'd never even led a major until the first round of this year's Open Championship. Now, he's the man with the target on his back heading into Sunday, and he's well aware of the pressure it brings, according to USA Today:
"Well, a four-shot lead doesn't seem to be very much this year on any golf tournament that I've watched...Obviously there are nerves and there's a finish line out there somewhere. But throughout my career somehow I've been able to handle that situation fairly well most of the time.
"
We'll find out soon enough how well Scott handles this situation.
Friday's leader, Brendt Snedeker, took a huge step backward in Round 3, shooting a three-over par. He'll be paired with Woods in the second-to-last group on Sunday.
Irishman Graeme McDowell shot a three-under par to give him an overall score of seven under par, and he'll be in the final group with Scott.
Major champions Ernie Els and Zach Johnson both shot a round of two under par on Saturday, and they are both six shots back of Scott, at five under par.
Here is the Leaderboard after Round 3, according to PGA.com.
