The Doctor's WWE SmackDown Recap: The 152 Things We Learned, Loved and Hated
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to my weekly SmackDown recap list. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, each week I recap SmackDown with a long list.
The entries are made up of equal parts observations, humor, recap, play-by-play, revelations, speculations, questions, answers and anything else I notice during the show. I sometimes comment on commercials, too, just because I get bored during them.
I try and interject some fun into these lists, so I hope you have fun reading this week's list of the things we learned, loved and hated from the show.

Fresh Backstage WWE Rumors 👊

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
1. I am always still surprised to see Ted DiBiase in the opening video. I hope he comes back soon. He is someone who I feel could be huge with the right storyline to push him off. That and a new entrance song.
2. HA! Cole has a Cole Miner in the audience judging from that sign we saw right away.
3. The show opens with Rey Mysterio coming out to a big reaction.
4. I don't like Rey's new shirt, although it is probably popular among his younger fans.
5. Rey looks rejuvenated after having a long break.
6. I like the "Little Jimmy for Raw GM" sign in front.
7. Rey talks about how this was the same arena where he was injured last year.
8. As Rey talks about Alberto Del Rio we hear Del Rio's music hit and he comes out with Ricardo Rodriguez.
9. Del Rio says it was a mistake for Rey to come back and pick a fight with him since he was the one who took Rey out of action.
10. Del Rio orders Rey to leave "his" ring and Rey says no.
11. Del Rio makes a cheap short joke at Rey's expense. That is the kind of classy behavior we expect from Del Rio at this point.
12. YES! Dolph Ziggler is out to make sure everyone knows he holds the MITB briefcase.
13. Ziggler says he is not out here to deal with Mysterio, but he is here to deal with Del Rio.
14. He is upset that Del Rio got in his way when he tried to cash in his briefcase and Del Rio snaps back.
15. Del Rio insults Vickie and Rey says "If you ladies have beef why don't you shut up and get it on right now?"
16. As Ziggler and Del Rio look like they might team up on Rey we see Sheamus come out to even the odds.
17. Sheamus says it is great to see Rey and the two look all buddy-buddy.
18. Sheamus makes some references to local landmarks for a cheap pop when he runs down Ziggler.
19. Del Rio bails and Ziggler is all alone with Rey and Sheamus. Sheamus clotheslines Ziggler and Rey delivers a 619 to end the segment.
20. I was sort of hoping we might see Ziggler show signs of a face turn int hat segment. I think he is an amazing heel but with the reactions he has been getting he will probably have to turn face the same way Orton did when he couldn't come out without getting a huge pop while still playing the heel.
21. When we come back from commercial we see The Prime Time Players in the ring with Hunico and Camacho.
22. They are set to face Epico, Primo, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth.
23. So does this mean Epico and Primo are now baby faces? It seems like there was still a heel reaction for them, but it is edited so that can be deceiving.
24. Rosa Rosa Rosa. How are you not being asked to be in magazines like Kelly Kelly? It's criminal how good that girl looks.
25. AW is still on his headset, which I can only assume was left over from his time as a Gap greeter.
26. Why do those people actually wear headsets?
26.5. "Quick, everyone to your stations! Some kid is looking for skinny jeans and a leather wrist cuff that serves no purpose whatsoever! This is what we trained for people!"
27. Epico and Hunico start things off and Epico is on control as he tags in Primo for a double team.
28. Camacho gets the tag but Primo stays on him until he gets backed into a corner by the Tongan superstar.
29. Primo gets a near fall with a roll up before Truth tags himself in and slaps the taste out of Camacho's mouth.
30. Truth does some of his trademark dancing offense.
31. I hate AW on the headset, but for some reason he always says at least one thing I laugh at. This time it was just him saying "Truth can't dance, come on."
32. I know its not funny, but his delivery was good. I still hate the gimmick.
33. What they should do is have him on commentary for the matches instead. That way he can put his team over without annoying everyone in attendance into taking a bathroom break.
34. After commercials we return to see Kofi and Truth hit a double team move on Camacho.
35. I wonder if either of the PTPs got any time in during the break?
36. Hunico holds Kofi's leg so he can't hit Trouble in Paradise and Camacho lays him out with a spinebuster.
37. Hunico comes in with a rolling senton on Kofi as the crowd starts a chant for Ghana's favorite son.
38. Damn! Titus O'neil comes in, picks up Kofi and then just throws him across the ring after taunting Truth with "You want your partner?"
39. T.O. locks in an abdominal stretch. A hold we don't see often enough these days.
40. The human microphone comes in and Kofi is able to get the better of PTP to get the tag to Primo.
41. Primo with the hot tag as he hits multiple offensive moves on Young.
42. Primo runs up to the top turnbuckle and hits a corkscrew to Young.
43. Whoa! Nice spot. Primo was on the top rope with AW providing enough distraction for T.O. to knock Primo off into a Gutbuster from Young.
44. PTP and Hunico and Camacho get the win after a decent 4-on-4 match.
45. Big Show comes out for some reason and everyone in All World Productions looks scared.
46. Truth tries to cut Show off but he can't and Kofi gets assaulted by PTP outside the ring.
47. Show hits the WMD on Truth and then he picks up Hunico and Camacho for a double Chokeslam.
48. He turns his attention to Primo as he tries to crawl out of the ring and he pulls him back in to deliver a nice looking WMD. When the camera angle is right that move looks really nasty.
49. Show grabs the mic and says "And...what?" and just leaves the ring.
50. I'm not sure how I feel about that segment. One on hand it put Show over as a crazy monster but on the other hand it buried three tag teams. PTP made the escape early.
51. Hahahaha! When they showed Cena's face in slow motion after winning MITB I could not help but laugh.
52. Why are we flashing back to Jeremy Piven's stint as guest host? He was one of the worst in my opinion.
53. I still like PCU, though.
54. After a commercial, five minute recap of Cena's MITB win and another commercial we get an explanation of what Tout is.
55. It is basically Twitter but with 15 second videos instead of 140 character messages.
56. Seriously! I have to pay attention to another social network now? UGH.
57. Praise Jebus! Damien Sandow is out to face Zack Ryder.
58. Sandow belittles Ryder on the mic, calling him a brainless Broski before Ryder comes in and attacks Sandow with some intensity we have not seen from Ryder in quite some time.
59. The ref breaks them up to start the match and Ryder gets right back on Sandow after the bell.
60. Sandow takes Ryder down with a kick to the knee and he goes to work on him with boots, elbows and axe-handles.
61. Hey Ref! Instead of telling Sandow to get in the ring why don't you do your job and start counting to 10?
62. Sandow with knees to Ryder's mid-section before he hits his neckbreaker finisher for the pin and the win.
63. That match was really quick but both men showed some serious intensity. Ryder looked good in the beginning and Sandow looked good in the end.
64. Look out, Ziggler. Sandow's cartwheel may soon outshine you headstand/headlock.
65. Christian is out after the break to host The Peep Show with special guests AJ and Daniel Bryan.
66. Christian shows a clip of the proposal and subsequent celebration before bringing out his guests. He thinks the word bizarre doesn't even describe the situation.
67. Christian, Didn't you see Sid and Nancy? This stuff is totally normal.
68. Did anyone ever invent that sarcasm font I asked for a couple months ago?
69. AJ is glowing with happiness as she comes down to the ring with Bryan.
70. Well, it's either happiness or too much tanning that is making her glow. Can't tell.
71. Christian asks how the wedding planning is going and Bryan says it is going really well.
72. AJ shows a clip of them shopping for flowers and other wedding essentials.
73. Bryan put a Teddy Bear in a submission hold. Adorable.
74. Do you see? Do you see why I need that font so badly?
75. After the clip Christian asks if they both think this is the right thing to do and they both say yes.
76. Christian asks if this is true love and the two start a Yes chant.
77. Christian asks the crowd if they should get married and the crowd seems pretty split.
78. Christian asks a few more questions along the same line and AJ ends up slapping him.
79. He was sort of being mean. How does their love affect Christian?
80. Before the happy couple can leave Christian lets Bryan know he has a match tonight against one of AJ's exes.
81. Kane's pyro hits and it freaks Bryan and AJ out as the Big Red Monster comes out for their match.
82. We return from commercial as the bell rings and Bryan hits a few kicks to Kane's knees before he gets shoved down.
83. Kane misses a big boot but hits the second one for a two count.
84. Kane with a body scissors to Bryan and Bryan is able to fight out only to get hit with a backbreaker.
85. Kane stretches Bryan over his knee in a submission. Kane with two submission in a matter of 30 seconds is like seeing a Dodo bird.
86. Bryan uses his speed to hit a dropkick to Kane's knees and he goes to work with kicks to Kane's chest.
87. He misses the big kick to Kane's head and Kane grabs him for a chokeslam, but Bryan breaks free and hits a running dropkick in the corner followed by a big kick to the head for a near fall.
88. Bryan leaps off the top into an uppercut and then he is hit with a sidewalk slam for another near fall.
89. Kane climbs to the top and when he jumps off Bryan catches him and almost lock in the Yes Lock.
90. Kane is too big and strong for Bryan to keep down.
91. Ha! Kane almost falls into AJ as Bryan low-bridges the top rope.
92. Kane throws Bryan into the steel steps and then the barricade.
93. This is an enjoyable match so far. Kane has stepped it up in the last couple of months.
94. AJ jumps off the top rope onto Kane and the ref calls for the bell.
95. Kane ends up chokeslamming Bryan while he still has AJ on his back and AJ starts trying to rip Kane's mask off,
96. AJ ends up still holding onto Kane when she is flung around to face him and they are in the same position as when she kissed him in the middle of a match.
97. Don't change horses in mid-stream , AJ!
98. She looks at Kane with a confused look as she lowers herself off of him. Bryan grabs her and they go to the back.
99. I knew it. Somehow Kane is always at the center of a wedding disaster.
100. I bet on Raw he comes out to object to their wedding, declaring his love for her and adding another layer to this already heavy storyline.
101. Weird ending to that match.
102. They play a commercial for Undertaker's streak DVD. I guess it is lucky he never faced Benoit at WrestleMania otherwise someone's head would explode trying to figure out how to edit him out without losing a match in the streak.
103. I hope no one takes that as me saying Benoit deserves to be featured more or something like that. It was just a random thought that popped into my head.
104. Zack Ryder shares a Raw flashback from Raw when the did the GTV hidden camera segments.
105. Mark Henry and Mae Young just made me shudder, but the part with Val Venis and Big Show in the bathroom was hilarious.
106. Heath "At least I beat Doink" Slater is out in the ring for what I assume is another legends match since Raw 1000 is just a couple days away.
107. Sweet! Animal from The Road Warriors is out.
108. Rest in Peace Michael Hegstrand AKA Hawk.
109. Animal runs over Slater after the bell but Slater actually comes back and hits a bunch of elbows.
100. Animal hits a nice powerslam on Slater followed by a jumping elbow drop for the win.
111. Animal has lost a lot of his muscle mass from back in the day, but he still moved around in the ring well.
112. LOD LOD LOD!!!
113. Vickie is backstage with Ricardo Rodriguez and they are arguing.
114. Vickie loses it and just starts screaming, sending Ricky away looking a little confused.
115. That segment was really strange. I laughed a bit when Ricardo called Vickie on the fact that he is a ring announcer and not a manager so she can't say she is a better manager.
116. Alberto Del Rio is out first after the break, but his music is cut off really early by Vickie, who brings out Dolph Ziggler.
117. I no longer really care about Vickie's character. She used to be an awesome heel manager but now she is just boring. She needs something new to do and Ziggler needs to go off on his own anyways.
118. Sheamus comes out after the commercial and Rey is last.
119. Ziggler and Sheamus start off and Ziggler gets pushed down quickly. Sheamus takes him down again with a headlock takedown followed by a shoulder block.
120. Ziggler hits a textbook dropkick for a near fall and Sheamus tags in Rey.
121. I just noticed Rey is wearing a top with a big question mark on it.
122. Del Rio tags in and hits a running kick to Rey's gut.
123. When Sheamus tags back in Del Rio quickly tags in Ziggler, who gets taken down with a hard elbow to the face.
124. It always amazes me how Ziggler can sell better than Shelley "The Machine" Levene.
125. Give Ziggler a Grande because "Coffee is for closers!"
126. Sorry. Had to do it. I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about.
127. We return from commercial to see Sheamus and Ziggler both down in the ring after Sheamus throws Ziggler off his back.
128. Rey gets the hot tag and he starts going to work on Ziggler.
129. Rey has clearly put on a pound or two. I guess that is why he has the new top.
120. Rey goes for the 619 but Del Rio kicks him in the back allowing Ziggler to hit the fame-asser for a very close fall.
131. Del Rio tags in and starts punishing Rey.
132. Rey breaks out of a chin lock with knees to ADR's head but Del Rio hits a big backbreaker on Rey to ground him again.
133. Ziggler and Del Rio make a few quick tags and keep Rey in their corner.
134. Rey almost makes it to Sheamus by crawling through Del Rio's legs for a tag but ADR grabs him by the foot to stop him.
135. Rey puts Del Rio out of the ring with a back drop and he starts crawling towards Sheamus but Del Rio is able to make it to Ziggler first and he cuts Rey off.
136. Rey counters a move with a DDT and Ziggler is down as Rey tries to crawl to his corner.
137. Both men leap to tag in their partners and Sheamus starts running over Del Rio like a McTruck.
138. Get it?
139. I know it was a bad joke but I thought of it and simply had to use it. I know I'm an idiot sometimes.
140. Sheamus hits White Noise and he sets up for the Brogue Kick.
141. Ricky grabs Sheamus by the leg to cost ADR and Ziggler the match.
142. Del Rio locks in the Cross-Arm Breaker after the bell and it takes five refs to pull him off Sheamus.
143. Ziggler looks like he might try and cash in again as Sheamus is still down and ADR is gone from ringside.
144. He tries to hand the case to the ref but Mysterio ends up hitting him with a 619 and Sheamus follows up with Brogue.
145. The show ends with Rey and Sheamus celebrating in the ring together.
146. I really enjoyed tonight's show. I'm not sure were all the movie references came from tonight. I guess I was just in one of those moods. I hope someone gets number 97.
147. Seeing Sandow, Christian and a couple segments involving Ziggler was all great.
148. I was shocked that we did not see Brodus Clay, Ryback or a Divas match. Perhaps that is why I enjoyed the show so much.
149. I am still very upset at how Antonio Cesaro has been continually ignored, but at least Sandow is getting plenty of ring time.
150. If Rosa gets skipped for next year's Maxim Hot 100 and Kelly makes it in again then that list will be even less relevant than it already is.
151. And where the hell is Tyson Kidd? I thought he was going to get a push after MITB.
152. I am looking forward to Raw 1000 on Monday as WWE has really built this up into a much bigger deal than I ever expected them to. Expect a big list, three hour shows always make them long.
Coming up on Monday is the 1000th episode of Raw. It will also be the last Monday recap list for the foreseeable future since I will be taking over the Raw Live Blog starting the following week with episode 1001.
I find it funny, and coincidental, that WWE's epic Raw 1000 will be when my last Raw recap list happens. I guess it is the start of a new era for both WWE and myself.
I will continue to do recap lists for SmackDown, any PPV I cannot cover live as well as the occasional episode of Impact if it is a really good one.
I want to end tonight's recap list by sending my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the families who were affected during the horrible shooting in Colorado early Friday morning.
