Lakers Trade Rumors: Dwight Howard Turning into Headache LA Doesn't Need

The drama never ends with Dwight Howard, and the Los Angeles Lakers don't need the massive headache that comes with dealing with him on a daily basis brings.

You've probably already heard that Howard was reportedly cool with signing a long-term deal with the Lakers if they could work out a trade for his services. That's what Real GM's Jarrod N Rudolph first reported, and then ESPN's Chris Broussard later confirmed:

Sources confirm @JRudolphSports report that Dwight Howard is ready to join Lakers. If traded to LA DH will re-sign long-term with team

Then, just a day later, Howard's agent Dan Fegan told ESPN the Magazine's Ric Bucher:

Dwight's position has remained unchanged since the end of this past season. He fully intends to explore free agency at the end of next season, regardless of what team trades for him, including Brooklyn.

"

This flip-flopping is eerily similar to the whole waiver-signing business with the Orlando Magic earlier this spring (h/t Orlando Sentinel). Howard can't seem to make up his mind about anything, and at this point, there's no guarantee about anything he says. 

Howard has become the boy who cried wolf.

You can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth, and the Lakers would be foolish to pay through the nose to get him. He is nothing these days but a massive headache, and at this point, I don't care how talented he is on the court—he's turned into a cancer off the court, and that's bad news for any team.

At this point, the only way I'd touch Howard is if he dumps his agent and/or commits to re-signing a long-term deal.
