LSU Football: Death Valley About to Become More Intimidating
Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. is widely regarded as one of the most intimidating atmospheres in college football.
It's about to get scarier.
A Louisiana state financing panel gave final approval on Thursday to proceed with the expansion to the end zones of Tiger Stadium, which is also known as "Death Valley," according to the Associated Press.
The plan will cost the state around $75 million and bring the capacity of Tiger Stadium to close to 100,000 seats. The expansion should be complete by the start of the 2014 season.
LSU said in a release in April that the proposed expansion will include approximately 60 suites, 3,000 club seats, 1,500 general public seats and an undetermined amount of standing-room-only seats in the south end zone. The project will be funded entirely by the Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF).
The expansion will move Tiger Stadium into the third spot in the SEC in terms of stadium capacity, behind Tennessee and Alabama.
LSU already was considered by many to be the most intimidating atmosphere in the SEC, particularly during night games. The expansion will only make the building even more intimidating in 2014.
