The PickLogic Picks Have Been Very Bad Lately
Hey, there's no shame in admitting it. The recent performance of the PickLogic picks has been very bad—1-6 in March, and just four wins in our last 16 selections overall (we're 4-12 since a 5-game winning streak ended April 11).
Not good.
There's a consolation, however (and really, it's the reason PickLogic has performed so well over the years as an investment, and not so great for gamblers): Even with such a poor won-loss record, with our next win—and let's hope it comes Wednesday!—the portfolios of our clients will have lost just under 1 percent over the last 30 days.
People sometimes ask how PickLogic is different than a sports handicapper...well, there are many reasons, but we doubt there are many sports handicappers who can survive an (eventual) 5-12 streak with just a 1 percent loss for their clients.
The other positive thing to note is that if you look at our historical won-loss record (and EVERY game we've picked for the last three years is posted here), PickLogic is going to win a little more than 50 percent of its selections over time (and it's still going to average a couple of percent gain each month, and a 20-35 percent gain each year).
So if history is any indicator (and it is!), this particular streak of picks won't last much longer.
(Note that PickLogic is still up over 3 percent for 2008—certainly comparable, at worst, with most other traditional investments.)
We also wanted to take a moment to thank the members who have written in recently to point out that they're not worried—they know that these kinds of streaks happen from time to time, and that it's a marathon, not a sprint!
And for those of you who've been on a free one-month trial and are choosing not to extend your membership due to our recent performance: we understand. If you have more of a gambling mindset, it's tough to see the overall big picture.
So if you're on a trial membership and you read this blog post, send a note to support@picklogic.com and we'll extend your account by one more month so you can really get the hang of what's happening here.
Your comments (both positive and negative) are welcome!
