Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Edinson Cavani and 5 Strikers Blues Should Chase
Chelsea are looking for a striker.
Even his team could get by with the trio of Romelu Lukaku, Daniel Sturridge and Fernando Torres, Roman Abramovich seems keen on signing a big name. Considering the extra cash the club has because of the Champions League, the summer spending could be just the beginning.
Furthermore, if Chelsea seriously want to contend for more trophies, they need a world-class goal scorer up top. Right now, the roster just doesn't have the answer.
There are plenty of strikers on the market right now, and Chelsea have their eyes set on a select few of them.
Demba Ba
1 of 5Demba Ba would be a great fit at Chelsea.
While the Newcastle United striker wouldn't be a superstar, he would add depth to Chelsea's front line. He is a great finisher, and he would be very successful with Eden Hazard and Juan Mata feeding him the ball.
Ba scored 16 goals in 32 Premier League starts last year, and Newcastle was a predominantly defensive team. Considering Chelsea will be pushing forward, Ba could improve upon that total.
At the end of May, Newcastle reportedly gave Chelsea (as well as Tottenham Hotspur) a July 31st deadline to complete a deal for Ba.
If Chelsea can't work out a deal for a bigger name, they would find Ba a very solid addition.
Radamel Falcao
2 of 5Radamel Falcao is a long shot, but Chelsea shouldn't forget about him.
The Colombian striker is one of the most lethal attacking players in Europe, and Chelsea could really use him.
There have been conflicting reports on whether or not the Blues could bring him in, but it looks like it's up to Roman Abramovich.
Chelsea were reportedly unwilling to pay Atletico Madrid's high-asking price. Considering the Spanish club just bought him from Porto last summer, it's reasonable that they would want a lot for him.
If Chelsea really want Falcao, they could make a big-money move to bring him in.
Stevan Jovetic
3 of 5The Stevan Jovetic sweepstakes could be heating up.
According to Sky Sports Italia (via ESPN), Jovetic is not on the market. However, the same report also cites an offer of approximately £23.5 million that could pull Jovetic away from Fiorentina.
Granted, that message was directed toward Juventus, but don't count Chelsea out yet. If Roman Abramovich wants to, he could make a quick £25 million offer to steal him away from the Italian giants.
Considering Jovetic is only 22, and he has already proven himself in a top league, it would behoove Chelsea to lock up the Montenegro international.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
4 of 5With their pursuit of Hulk looking dead, Chelsea have now turned their attention toward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
After a great season at Schalke, Huntelaar has proven himself at the top level. Chelsea need a proven striker, and Huntelaar could be the man.
He has a £17 million release clause in his contract, which looks like nothing after dealing with Hulk and Porto. Schalke will be reluctant to move him, but Chelsea will always have a chance to bring him in for the right price.
Edinson Cavani
5 of 5Edinson Cavani is the dream for Chelsea.
He's big, strong, fast and he can finish in every way imaginable. He can play the ball in the air and on the ground. Moreover, he is a relentless worker that keeps defenses on their heels.
Cavani is ready to move to a big club. More importantly, he is ready to make the big bucks. If Chelsea think it's worth it to pay him around £150,000 per week, then they should stop hesitating and pull the trigger on the deal.
Be on the lookout because this could happen by the end of the weekend. Similarly, it could be ruled impossible by Monday.
Regardless, be sure to pay attention to what Chelsea decide to do with Cavani.
