Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Joffrey Lupul has game.

That might not come screaming off the screen when you see a video of his exchange with Cheryl Burke recently. However, the red carpet meeting got him a date, and the two are now a thing, according to US Weekly

The Toronto Maple Leafs winger was at the NHL Awards recently, apparently working the red carpet. Yahoo Sports has a video of him getting in a few words with Dancing with the Stars' Cheryl Burke.

As you can see from the video, there is a ton of flirting coming from Burke, while Lupul, ever the professional, tries to maintain a little bit of decorum.

His physique is complemented by the dancing beauty, and he is even told he should consider coming onto the next season of DWTS.

The man takes the hint, because the two were later seen on a date.

US Weekly reports the two exchanged some flirts on Twitter and then had a nice date at L.A.'s Mercato di Vetro July 12.

After that, it was pretty much on like Donkey Kong.

It also paints quite the picture of Burke who may have a "type," if strong athletes is a type, via US Weekly

"

Lupul isn't Burke's first romance with an athlete; though they never confirmed their relationship, the choreographer reportedly enjoyed a fling with her DWTS Season 10 partner, Chad Ochocinco. (The Dolphins player only added to the rumors by gifting Burke with a lavish diamond ring during the competition).

"

Lupul is clearly winning, and we are in the dead of offseason.

This goes to show you athletes out there: Make sure you get to every last award show you can, because you never know what could happen.
