Where does notable names stand?

World No. 1 Luke Donald is tied for 37th after shooting even par. He had a steady round: one bogey, one birdie and 16 pars.

Tiger Woods is in the hunt and sits tied for sixth, two strokes away from Adam Scott. Woods was four-under after 14 holes, but bogeyed 15 and posted an opening round of 67—three-under.

Twenty-three-year-old Rory McIlroy managed to post a 67. He started with two birdies in the front, but had trouble in the back: four birdies, one bogey and one double bogey. On 15, Rory hit a fan after slicing his tee shot. He amended the mistake by giving the 16-year-old a signed glove.

Phil Mickelson had a bumpy start and posted a 37 in the first nine: two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey. In the last nine he scored a birdie and a bogey to finish three-over, tied for 99.

England's Lee Westwood seemed to be on a roll after birdying his first two holes, but went one-over with a double bogey in number three and a bogey in the sixth. Despite scoring a couple more birdies, he had more problems on the back and notched four bogeys to finish tied for 99.

The 2012 Masters winner Bubba Watson followed Woods' steps and posted a 67, three-under par to close his day in the office tied for sixth. Watson had birdies in hole numbers five, seven, eight and 11, and a bogey on 13.
