WWE Greatest Rivalries DVD: Is the Rock vs. John Cena the Right Choice?
WWE is releasing a DVD highlighting the year-long feud between John Cena and The Rock, which culminated at a historic match at WrestleMania 28.
While many fans might argue this feud is a bad choice to be the second "Feud DVD" due to the fact that it did not have the same depth as the HBK/Hart feud, it is actually a whole different animal altogether.
Cena and Rocky had a feud we have never seen the likes of before. The Rock came back to a business he had left seven years prior to do this feud and while the dollar signs probably had a lot to do with his reason for coming back, it is Cena who really helped make the feud what it was.

Rocky came back and entertained the fans in a way only The Rock can do, but the surprising thing about it was how well Cena was able to keep step with The Great One.
At times it seemed as if Cena actually had the verbal upper hand because he was bringing up real points as to why he is where he is in the company while Rocky just did his usual shtick with jokes.
The Fruity Pebbles joke actually ended up taking on a life of its own and it eventually got Cena to actually be on the box for the colorful breakfast cereal.
While WWE has many feuds which would make great "Feud DVDs," it is in their best interest to do this one first so it is still fresh in the minds of fans.
The match they had at WrestleMania was very entertaining, and it showed that Rocky could still go in the ring after all those years.
It also showed that Cena could keep up with one of the best of all time, which is something he needed since WWE does not have the star power on the roster they had during Rocky's day.
Wrestling is a sport which goes all year and without an offseason, it is easy for fans to simply move forward and not look to the past.
Having this DVD come out while the feud is still fresh in the minds of the young fans of the WWE is really the only choice they can make at this point to maximize profits.
The HBK/Bret DVD had the benefit of being a real life situation which gripped fans for years, while Rocky and Cena's feud is almost entirely based in the world of kayfabe.
This DVD will not be like the first "Feud DVD" WWE did because they will not be doing a sit-down interview with Jim Ross in the same room like Bret and Shawn did. It will be mostly stock footage.
Even though this might not be the most deserving feud to get its own DVD, it is one that is certainly justified due to the success of WrestleMania 28 and the feud as a whole.
