Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Confirm Interest in Clint Dempsey
Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers has confirmed what every Reds fan wants to hear over the summer transfer window—the club are making an inquiry for Fulham striker Clint Dempsey.
The former Swansea manager was believed to have been tracking the American international for some time now after a breakout season in the English Premier League, netting 23 goals for the Cottagers last season and seemingly improving with every passing week.
According to Goal, Rodgers has denied any bid has been made for the striker—confirming that negotiations between the two parties remain at an "interested" level.

"Clint [Dempsey] is a player we've enquired about—it is as simple as that.
Ian Ayre, our managing director, has spoken with the club [Fulham] to see what the position is. That is where we're at.
"
He's a very talented player but we don't like to talk about other clubs' players...
Fulham are believed to want around £10 million for the striker, who still has a year left on his contract.
Rodgers also quashed rumors that Andy Carroll will be leaving the club on loan next season, stating via Goal that:
"There has been a lot written and spoken about him but first and foremost Andy is a Liverpool player. To consider a loan period for someone the club spent £35 million on isn't something we're looking to do at this moment in time...
"
With the acquisition of Fabio Borini for a reported £11 million deal and the possible retention of Andy Carroll, Liverpool must still be considered a genuine threat for a top-four spot in the English Premier League this season.
The addition of Clint Dempsey would only reiterate that point.
Is Clint Dempsey going to make a move to Anfield?
