John Cena: Finalizing Divorce Allows WWE Superstar to Avoid Negative Spotlight

Tim DanielsJun 7, 2018

John Cena continues to serve as the unchallenged face of the WWE, but his life outside of the ring hasn't been as easy lately due to a divorce from his wife. Luckily, it appears the fan favorite will be able to put those personal issues aside before they become a bigger problem.

TMZ is reporting the divorce between Cena and his ex-wife, Elizabeth Huberdeau has been resolved. The attorney for Huberdeau said a private settlement has been reached, bringing an end to the situation, which got heated at times.

It's terrific news for Cena. He's a gigantic part of the WWE, and his biggest fans often come from younger demographics. The last thing he needed was to get dragged through the mud during an extended divorce case.

By getting it wrapped up relatively quickly before it had a chance to become a mainstream story, he avoids any potential negative publicity that would ensue. It was a private matter, and it got handled as such, thankfully.

Cena has continued to work a full schedule throughout the process, not allowing the divorce to impact his performance. Love him or hate him, it's impossible to deny the love he has for putting on a show and wrestling, as a whole.

Even fans who have become fed up over the years with his "Super Cena" persona would have trouble finding a problem with him on a personal level.

He recently passed a milestone with the Make-A-Wish Foundation by granting his 300th wish. That's a record among celebrities, and the colorful superstar said he's on his way to 1,000. For somebody with a jam-packed schedule already, that's impressive.

Cena didn't want to lose any of that support from his fans which probably put a bigger onus on getting something worked out as quickly as possible. A divorce can turn into a sticky situation, something he and the WWE certainly didn't want or need.

By the time he steps in the ring across from CM Punk next Monday night on the 1,000th episode of Raw in a match for the WWE Championship, it will all be a thing of the past.

He can get back to focusing on what he cares about most: Entertaining the fans.
