Vegas Summer League 2012: Damian Lillard and Most Impressive Rookies in Action

Brian MaziqueJul 19, 2012

Damian Lillard is proving that coming from a small school means nothing. The Portland Trail Blazers' rookie out of Weber State has been lighting the Vegas Summer League up.

Through two games he has averaged 26 points per game, which is the most of any rookie in action.

He has grabbed 4.5 rebounds and dished 3.5 assists. Blazers fans would probably like to see that assist total go up, but anyone who has watched Lillard play knows he's a scorer.

He has no fear and no conscience. It's a intriguing quality for a rookie point guard.

Here a few other rookies shining in Sin City.

Jeremy Lamb

Lamb is looking as though he's going to make critics, like myself, eat their words. Through four games he has scored 21 points per game, and he's shooting just under 50 percent from the floor for the Houston Rockets.

I had my doubts about Lamb, but he is playing well and most importantly, aggressive. I hope it continues. Watch this nasty slam off the dish from Royce White.

Tyler Zeller

The Cavaliers' young center has been solid in Vegas. He has averaged 14 points, eight rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per game.

Zeller is shooting over 50 percent from the field as well.

He isn't going to dazzle you, but if the Cavs are looking for solid and spirited play this year, Zeller has the goods.

Terrence Jones

Jones is another of the Rockets' rookies who is playing well. He is showing off his versatility and shooting touch from the outside.

He's shooting just under 54 percent from the field, and that includes 40 percent from three-point range.

Through four games he is averaging 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds. In my opinion he has been the most complete rookie performer in Vegas.

Here's a nice highlight of Jones:
