Toronto Maple Leafs: Playoffs or Steven Stamkos

Ian MurrayMar 11, 2008

Being a Leafs fan, I have been watching them throught out the season very closely and i noticed many things about them that I belive took their chances away from making the playoffs.

Now that it seams unlikely they will make the playoffs, should they start to lose and try to get in to the draft lottery and get the best up and coming forward, Steven Stamkos?

At this moment in time he has 55 goals and 98 points this season.

They have had diapontments from many of their players that they have hoped to be playing to the best of their abilities.

Not to lay blame, but Andrew Raycroft needs to step up his game if he wants to stay in this league for a long time.

Also Jason Blake and yeah, I know he has cancer. Well, if he does he shouldn't be playing. He was brought over to be a winger for Mats Sundin who is 12th in the league in points.

They are without a star winger, but would getting Stamkos really help the Leafs?

I think so.

I believe he will help Matts out with carying the team, not that he carries the team ever.

No one else does their part, but right now he is really the only player besides Toskala that is playing to their full potential.

Thus by getting Stamkos, I believe it would help kick start the players by making them fight for their positions even more.

So yes, I think it would be great for the Leafs to go for Stamkos, but they should not try to start losing because that is not the Canadian or Maple Leaf way.

We do not just give up and start to lose. We play to win and that is what I think the Leafs should do for the rest of the season, and also go for Stamkos and just see what they get.
