Auburn Football: Twitter Reaction and Analysis from SEC Media Days

Ian BergMay 31, 2018

Auburn's Gene Chizik will take the stage today and represent the Auburn Tigers at SEC Media Days. There will be a lot of questions that will be danced around with coach speak, but Chizik may give some direct answers.

As Twitter reactions land, this will be the updates headquarters for Twitter reactions and analysis of the Auburn Tigers SEC Media Days.

With Chizik are defensive end Corey Lemonier, receiver Emory Blake and tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen. Auburn will be safe at the podiums, but Blake, Lemonier and Lutzenkirchen are great personalities and are sure to bring something fun to the table.

Stay tuned for the Tigers to hit the podium and for updates to begin to flow.

Emory Blake Endorsing Kiehl Frazier?

1 of 12

According to John Zenor @jzenor, Emory Blake says that the arm of Kiehl Frazier is the strongest he has ever been around.

"

Auburn WR Emory Blake says QB Kiehl Frazier has "probably the strongest arm I've ever seen as a quarterback," including Cam Newton.

— John Zenor (@jzenor) July 18, 2012"

Is this an endorsement of Frazier or just an answer to a question from Blake? We will know soon enough.

Corey Lemonier Wins Style Award

2 of 12

Thanks to Edward Aschoff with ESPN.com, we now know that not only did Corey Lemonier sport a bow-tie today, he also wore striped socks.

"

#Auburn DE Corey Lemonier not only has the bow tie but he has on striped socks. Love it twitter.com/AschoffESPN/st…

— Edward Aschoff (@AschoffESPN) July 18, 2012"

You have to give Lemonier some credit for the style. Looking sharp Lemonier. Keep up the good work.

The Quarterback Race Is Still Up for Grabs Says Chizik

3 of 12

According to Marc Weiszer @marcweiszer, Gene Chizik says the quarterback job is still up for grabs.

"

Chizik says the QB situation is “up for grabs,” between Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley. Will be decided in preseason practices.

— Marc Weiszer (@marcweiszer) July 18, 2012"

Is it as open as Chizik says or did someone receive a tip of the hat this spring? Don't count out Clint Moseley in this contest, but in the end Kiehl Frazier appears to be the most possible solution to the quarterback quandary.

That Guy Named Zeke Pike

4 of 12

Joel A. Erickson, beat writer for the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, tweeted that after meeting with Gene Chizik during SEC Media Days that Chizik had this to say about the Zeke Pike situation:

"

In meeting with #Auburn beat writers, Gene Chizik says he sent Zeke Pike home. Pike won't return until he meets certain requirements.

— Joel A. Erickson (@wareagleextra) July 18, 2012"

What the requirements for return are are anyone's guess, but they aren't likely to be easily achieved. Does Pike return to Auburn or does Auburn keep moving and Pike falls away? This will be a scenario closely followed.

Lutzenkirchen Is in the Building

5 of 12

Lutzenkirchen is in the building according to a tweeted photo by Glenn Warren @BigGame790.

"

— Glenn Warren (@BigGame790) July 18, 2012"

Lutzenkirchen is making his second trip to SEC Media Days with Auburn.

And so the Ribbing Begins

6 of 12

Chizik has arrived at SEC Media Days. According to Knox Bardeen @knoxbardeen, the ribbing from Alabama fans has already begun.

"

Gene Chisik is in the Wynfrey lobby signing autographs. Some fan just yelled "Roll Tide" at him. #SECKickoff12

— Knox Bardeen (@knoxbardeen) July 18, 2012"

The Iron Bowl never sleeps. The bigger question is what is that fan doing with his time to be at Media Days on a Wednesday?

Gene Chizik Leads out of Lunch...not Good

7 of 12

Gene Chizik will lead the pack when the lunch break ends at SEC Media Days. That may be a dangerous scenario as Chizik is not known for his explosive media presentations. Mike Reiter @Mike_Reiter makes the point:

"

Auburn head coach Gene Chizik will resume SEC Media Days in about 50 minutes. Having Chizik after lunch is a disaster. #Zzzzzz

— Mike Reiter (@Mike_Reiter) July 18, 2012"

Come on, it can't be that bad. Or could it? Chizik may have to be a little more than generic today to keep the media engaged. It has been the lengthiest Media Days event in SEC history. After lunch Chizik could spell disaster for those that missed a little sleep during travel to Hoover, Ala.

Mississippi State Lineman Says Auburn Is a Must Win

8 of 12

Mississippi State offensive lineman Gabe Jackson was quoted by Drew Goldfarb of WTVA in Columbus saying that Auburn is a must win for the Bulldogs.

"

Jackson: "We've got to win against Auburn. I feel like we've been close the last two years. It hurt, because we were so close to winning."

— Drew Goldfarb (@DrewGoldfarb) July 18, 2012"

I agree with Jackson, it is a must win. If the Bulldogs get a good start in the early morning game, they stand a solid chance at a big win in Week 2. Being an early kickoff hurts the crowd this season for the Dogs, however. Will the crowd matter?

Mullen Marks Auburn Game as "Most Important Conference Game"

9 of 12

Tensions between Mississippi State and Auburn have always been present, but after the Cam Newton recruiting saga with Mississippi State, it has become a quiet guerrilla war between the fan-bases.

Dan Mullen hopped into the Auburn arena today when he was quoted by Bob Carskadon with Hailstate.com stating the Auburn game is crucial to a successful Bulldogs season.

"

Mullen on playing Auburn September 8: "I think that's the most important game you play in the conference."

— Bob Carskadon (@bobcarskadon) July 18, 2012"

So what did Mullen mean when he says "most important" conference game of the season? I would assume it has to do with the first conference game on the docket, but there are some undertones to this game this season.

Last season ended with a goal-line stand. This year will hope to bring the same excitement.

The Tigers Are En-Route

10 of 12

Philip Lutzenkirchen tweeted that the Tigers are getting ready to take to the air and head to Birmingham now.

"

Bout to fly out to bham for media with @CoreyL55 @EB_TXmade plus it's Emory's bday so give him some love! Big 21!

— Philip Lutzenkirchen (@lutzenkirchen) July 18, 2012"

Lutzie also mentions that it is Emory Blake's birthday today. Happy birthday Emory.

Media Days Newbie and His Bowtie

11 of 12

Philip Lutzenkirchen is one of the main Twitter personalities for the Auburn Tigers program and he is not letting us down today. He tweeted out that Corey Lemonier was wearing a bow tie to today's events.

"

@coreyl55 thinks he has swag...bowtie ha... What a media day NEWB @emoryblakeinstagr.am/p/NOjc81s6Mt/

— Philip Lutzenkirchen (@lutzenkirchen) July 18, 2012"

Newb for Media Days or not, the bow-tie is a tough pull off and Lemonier lands it. He will also be landing in opposing backfields near you sometime this fall.

Boarding the Plane from the Plains

12 of 12

The Tigers are ready to take off. Here is a tweet from Auburn Athletics with a photo of Emory Blake and Corey Lemonier getting ready to hop on the Auburn plane to Hoover.
