Clint Dempsey: Liverpool Needs to End Speculation and Add Star Forward
If nothing else, we now know that Liverpool has serious interest in Fulham forward Clint Dempsey. Unfortunately for Reds fans, nothing is imminent as of yet.
From BBC Sport:
"A post on Fenway Sports Group's website said Liverpool had "added Clint Dempsey to a team that came within a game of winning the FA Cup".
The website report was later removed, and the Reds also confirmed they had not signed the player.
A Fulham spokesperson told BBC Sport: "We have not received any bids."
Although the website is the official homepage of FSG, it is hosted by sports network company NESN.com, who posted the original story.

Sign him already, Liverpool!
The team obviously has interest. Dempsey would certainly be a good fit in new manager Brendan Rodgers' 4-3-3 system playing on the wing. And coming off of a career season, Dempsey would certainly bring a big impact to Anfield.
Dempsey scored 23 goals and added six assists in 46 appearances for Fulham last year, easily the U.S. international's finest season of club play.
Plus, if Andy Carroll is heading out of town, adding another attacking option would be vital for the Reds. While they did already add Fabio Borini this summer, Dempsey's creative presence on the wing and proven goal-scoring acumen would add a different level of bite to Liverpool's attack.
Dempsey has been a popular player in the transfer speculation this summer, and a move to Liverpool truly makes the most sense for the forward. He would dramatically improve his chances of playing in the Champions League, fits Rodgers' system to perfection and would get to play for a legendary club in the process.
It seems like a match made in heaven.
So enough of the speculation, Liverpool. Enough of the wayward stories randomly—and falsely—stating Dempsey has been added by the team.
Just make it happen already.
