Married Australians Lauryn and Russell Mark Proclaim Olympic Discrimination

The Australian Olympic Committee is out to get married Olympians, and to make sure they don't have any amount of sex while at the London Games. 

It seems like a rather ridiculous assertion, but I am just relaying the sentiments of Russell Mark, an Australian shooter who is good and mad that he will not be sharing a room with his wife during the Summer Olympics. 

Yahoo Sports (h/t SportsGrid) reports two married Olympians will be forced to different dorms during the games, and they are fuming.

Sunday, Nick Green, chef de mission of the Australian Olympic Committee, told Australian Olympic shooters Russell and Lauryn Mark via email that they would not be able to room together in the Olympic Village during this month's London Games.

The husband and wife Olympians are calling the mandate stupid and believe it was set off by Russell's pro-sleeping pill stance and Lauryn's provocative photo shoot in the latest issue of The Zoo, an Australian magazine geared towards the fellows.

There is a ton to deal with in that report so we'll take it a little at a time. As for the sleeping pills, there is this Yahoo Sports report on Russell Mark proclaiming that a ban on sleeping pills by Aussie Olympians would destroy their medal chances. 

It seems Mark has a great many thoughts on a great many things. 

Many of you might recognize the lovely lady in this family as Lauryn Mark, a buxom shooter who modeled for Australia's gentleman magazine Zoo. 

As we have previously written, there will be plenty of sex and hooking up in the Olympic Village.

At least, that goes for pretty much everyone but this married couple. Mark has an argument that he would like you to hear, via Herald Sun.

The stupid part of this, which I have argued to them, is that there are tons of gay couples on the Olympic team who will be rooming together, so we are being discriminated against because we are heterosexual. 

"

Well that's dumb. 

I would gather this is more about keeping things the same throughout, keeping male and female athletes separated, regardless of orientation. 

I second what Evan Sporer of SportsGrid issues, Mark would have much more success simply arguing that married couples should be together. 

Proclaiming discrimination against married couples will just make him look foolish. As foolish as thinking separating men and women in the Olympic Village will stave off sexual encounters and increase productivity.
