Money in the Bank 2012 Review: Dolph Ziggler Wins Instant Classic Ladder Match

Brian MaziqueJun 7, 2018

If you watched the World Heavyweight Championship contract match and you didn't enjoy it, then you don't like professional wrestling.

Even the most cynical fan that hunts for something wrong in every thing would have a hard time nitpicking at this one.

To that person, I'd quote Maximus from Gladiator: "Are you not entertained?"

Dolph Ziggler won as many of us predicted, but along the way, the match had several thrilling moments. Ziggler took the contract, but he didn't have the most dynamic performance.

Tyson Kidd and Cody Rhodes were amazing in a losing effort, and Christian was his normal solid self.

Even Santino was good for more than laughs in this one. His split and arm drag was an awesome sequence. I didn't really dig the afraid of heights angle they took with Santino on the ladder, but of course, he pulled it off well.

Still, he and Damien Sandow's performance meshed nicely into what was the epitome of what a ladder match should be.

It had dangerous collisions with the ladder on the ground and in the air. It gave full license to the high-flyers to show off their stuff, and the match had little to no botches.

To have such a clean display in a match with so many stunts is amazing.

You know a match has gone over well when Tensai looks good in the ring. I ignored his botched power bomb off the ladder with Santino, and I appreciated him playing the power role in the bout.

He was put in a great situation to shine, and overall he did well.

The excitement in this match made Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio's World Heavyweight title match look boring—well, it actually was pretty boring. But following the classic ladder match made it worse.

This may be the match most fans are talking about today.
