WWE Money in the Bank 2012: What Should Happen to Make It More Memorable
With the Money in the Bank pay-per-view just underway, the level of predictability for the WHC ladder match is still relatively high.
Similar to Daniel Bryan winning last year, the WWE may also pull a swerve this year with the WWE Title match and have someone other than the favorite—John Cena—win the match.
Although these predictions may be a far stretch, this is what could happen to make the PPV a bit more memorable.
World Heavyweight Championship MITB Match
1 of 4The World Heavyweight Championship MITB match has one of the most diverse selection of Superstars since its inception. Most of the wrestlers are not current main-eventers, giving them a rare opportunity for a fast track to roster elevation.
What most likely will happen:
Cody Rhodes wins the MITB briefcase, and keeps it for a few more months as his character continues to develop.
What should happen:
The predicted outcome should indeed happen. Rhodes is well-deserving of an opportunity to be a main-eventer and a WHC before the end of the year.
Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio
2 of 4The build between Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio for the WHC has been decent leading up to the PPV. There have been weekly games of one-upsmanship, and the WWE is trying to make the match less predictable.
What most likely will happen:
Alberto Del Rio has failed to achieve the same status as his "destiny" year in 2011. Although he would be good staying in the upper mid-card, headlining one of the "Big Four" pay-per-views would not be fitting for ADR at this point of his WWE tenure. Sheamus wins.
What should happen:
The Sheamus steamroller should run out of gas this Sunday at MITB. Although ADR does not win, he attacks Sheamus post-match, giving the MITB winner (presumably Cody Rhodes) an opportunity to cash it in, while not making Sheamus look weak and having a good build to the SummerSlam PPV.
WWE Championship MITB Match
3 of 4While many believed that Superstars such as Rey Mysterio and Miz would be involved to make it a traditional 6-8 man match, the WWE decided to have only four men participate in the MITB to earn the No. 1 contendership for the WWE Championship.
What most likely will happen:
John Cena began his journey to become the MITB contract winner by making a "historical announcement" on Raw. Since then, Big Show has been the dominant figure leading up to the PPV. Seemingly, focusing on the Big Show over the past few weeks may just be a detour to make a John Cena win less predictable, although it will still be predictable to most.
Cena wins.
What should happen:
Let's face it—John Cena is the last person who needs a MITB contract to be involved in the world title picture. A win from him would be completely unnecessary.
What would make the most sense is that Chris Jericho wins, fulfills his tour dates this year with Fozzy, and returns later this year by cashing in the contract and winning the WWE Championship.
CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan (AJ Special Guest Referee)
4 of 4Who would have thought that AJ would be such a great addition to this feud? Her unpredictability every week makes this match more and more intriguing. No matter what happens after this match, AJ has cemented her spot as the new longstanding face of the WWE Divas.
What most likely will happen:
AJ attempts to assist the both of them at different periods of the match, with CM Punk getting the better end of AJ's assistance and retaining the title.
What should happen:
AJ attempting to assist both of them should happen, but Daniel Bryan should leave the MITB PPV as the new WWE Champion. John Cena can be thrown in the mix due to AJ trying to put her mesmerizing moves on him—similar to Kane.
Daniel Bryan retains the title for a few months, Chris Jericho returns as a face and cashes his MITB contract in on Daniel Bryan to become the new WWE Champion.
