About Minute Maid Park in Houston:
Minute Maid Park was built in 2000 in order to replace the old Astrodome. The Astrodome offered a roof to avoid Houston's notorious heat and humidity, but it was not retractable for favorable weather. Furthermore, players all across the league despised the artificial grass known as AstroTurf. Minute Maid Park was built in order to fix both of these problems, with a retractable roof supporting real grass. The Astrodome was widely known as one the most pitching-oriented ballparks, and its successor is vastly different. Minute Maid Park is one of the most hitter-friendly parks, with the left field line being one of the shortest in baseball at 315 feet.
