US Olympic Gymnastics Team 2012: Best Personal Twitter Accounts of Team USA

Josh SchochJul 13, 2012

What's the best way to follow the 2012 Summer Olympics apart from going to London? Twitter, of course.

Thanks to social media you can follow all of Team USA's athletes and get instant updates from them as they look to help the U.S. take home the most medals during the Games.

These athletes from the 2012 U.S. Olympic gymnastics team are entertaining in the gym and online, and are the best ones to follow as they head to London.

Danell Leyva

1 of 4

Danell Leyva is arguably the best male gymnast in the world today. He and teammate John Orozco will fight for the gold medal in London.

However, he does not ignore his fans. Most of his tweets on Twitter are retweets; many of which are from those of fans who tweet him.

Leyva could soon be a gold medalist, but he will still retweet you if you send him something that catches his interest, no matter who you are.

Sam Mikulak

2 of 4

Sam Mikulak is a big-time tweeter, and he loves to retweet his fans as well.

What makes him special is that he is worth following to keep tabs on his performance at the Games. He's honest and doesn't hold information back.

He also tweets about his status:

"

Did all my tumbling passes today, ankles are 100%! :) #iamback

— Sam Mikulak (@SamuelMikulak) July 12, 2012"

Jake Dalton

3 of 4

He's no Chad Johnson (previously known as Chad Ochocinco), but Jake Dalton is pretty funny on Twitter.

His own tweets are pretty original, and he also retweets his fans, like many other gymnasts do.

Dalton is one of the top gymnasts to follow because he's entertaining. If you can only follow one of the gymnasts I would choose him.

The Entire Women's Team

4 of 4

The reason I'm including all five members of the women's team on one slide is because they tweet each other so much that there is no way to single any one member out as the best to follow.

These five girls are all clearly great friends and will be having a lot of fun in London, so it's worth following them all to keep up with their run to glory and adventures during the Games.
