WWE: How Daniel Bryan Could Become a Top BabyFace in the Company

David LevinJun 5, 2018

If there was ever an opportunity for Daniel Bryan to make the expected “face” turn, it should come after this weekend and before the big push for SummerSlam.

While so much has been made of the love triangle between Bryan, CM Punk and A.J. Lee has been all the rage and the most followed storyline in the WWE over the last month, the program may actually give Bryan, who in my opinion is the best in the business right now along with Austin Aries (that is another story in itself), the opportunity to win the fans over as a favorite than as a heel.

There are many variables, and with that in mind, I ask everyone have an open mind when they read this opinion piece.

Bryan has prided himself on being the great antagonist and the best opportunist in the company. Now, he is firmly cemented as a main-event draw, maybe better than the current WWE Title-holder, Punk.

I suspect as well, we will see a change in character by Punk, who has used his Twitter account to tease us at a possible “heel” turn.

And since this is professional wrestling, it is more of a soap opera than anything else, where instead of people coming back from the grave on daytime television, wrestlers have more changes in their careers than an antique car with 200,000 miles on it.

Also, notice this does not change my view on the fact John Cena should recapture the WWE Title on Raw’s 1,000th episode. That is still something I stand by. If you have not read my other stories lately, Cena will cash in at the big Raw event and beat Bryan to claim title number 12.

Getting back to the story at hand, this is how I think things will go down in the next few weeks. Pay attention. Like Johnny Bender asked, there will be a test on this later (just a joke, people).

I think Bryan wins the MITB WWE Title match over Punk (while A.J. Lee actually costs Punk the match).

While Bryan blamed Lee for his 18 second loss to Sheamus at WrestleMania 28, this could be the same situation where Punk and Lee leave the PPV together and relations are strained afterward, which also leads to part of the reason Punk changes sides.

See, again, a woman has a hand in the loss of a major title in the WWE.

Now, to the good stuff.

I see a change in Bryan’s demeanor in some fashion as he comes to Lee’s aid and wins her heart again (an Oscar-award winning scene) and the heart of the fans who can still cheer him on for his ability.

Applause, please.

But seriously, this makes sense. There are other scenarios that could come into play including maybe a return of everyone’s favorite villain, Kane. But for now, this is the situation we are dealt with. All three wrestlers can help each other to make this happen.

But the first thing that has to happen is the MITB match must happen and Bryan must take the title from Punk.

And after that, hopefully, everything will fall into place.
