EPL Transfer Rumours: 20 Biggest Names Still in the Gossip Columns

The English Premier League is set to resume in a little over a month, and the rumors continue to fly.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have already spent large amounts of cash, but neither club appears finished with their summer sprees.

They're not alone, either. Manchester United and Arsenal have already made deals, and both are currently being linked with more players.

In fact, all 20 Premier League clubs can be found in the gossip pages these days as the summer transfer window wears on.

Here are the 20 biggest names currently in the gossip pages.

Hulk

Who might be interested: Chelsea

Porto winger/forward Hulk insists that he has not held talks with Chelsea or any other club (ESPNSoccernet). But that doesn't mean anything about his agent.

Hulk, 25, will be one of Brazil's overage players at the Olympics this summer. By the time the tournament is over, he might no longer be a Porto player.

Lucas Moura

Who might be interested: Manchester United, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid

Manchester United have reportedly sent a delegation to Brazil in hopes of signing 19-year-old attacking midfielder Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo (Daily Mail).

The Red Devils are far from alone. Inter Milan reportedly also sent a delegation, while Chelsea and Real Madrid are also thought to be interested.

Moura himself has been quoted as saying United's interest is "just speculation" (The Independent).

Whoever wins the race—if anyone does sign Moura this summer—will have to pay big. Moura could cost in excess of £30 million.

Oscar

Who might be interested: Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea have reportedly won the bidding war for 20-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder Oscar and are closing in on the signing (Goal.com).

The deal has not been made official, but Oscar would cost Chelsea €25 million.

Robin van Persie

Who might be interested: Manchester City, Manchester United, Juventus

Robin van Persie stunned Arsenal last week by announcing he would not sign a new contract with the North London club.

Manchester City are thought to be the favorites to land his signature, but to sign RvP, the English champions reportedly must make room in their strikeforce (The Guardian).

One player who could make was is ex-Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor (The Sun).

David Silva

Who might be interested: Real Madrid

Real Madrid have not given up on signing David Silva from Manchester City, though the midfielder has reportedly opened talks over a new £200,000-per-week contract (Metro).

According to Metro, Real could bid £40 million for Silva, a 26-year-old Spanish international midfielder.

Carlos Tevez

Who might be interested: AC Milan

Yes, the Carlos Tevez show is back. Sort of.

AC Milan have resurrected their interested in Manchester City's mercurial Argentine striker (talkSPORT).

But even so, it will take some serious hype to hoist this rumor back to its former spot at the top, bottom and middle of the rumor mill.

Luka Modric

Who might be interested: Real Madrid, Chelsea

Real Madrid officials are reportedly confident they will beat Chelsea to the signing of Tottenham Hotspur's Croatian midfielder Luka Modric (Daily Mail).

If so, they might have to meet Spurs' reported £35 million asking price—or possibly include defender Ricardo Carvalho as a make-weight.

Gareth Bale

Who might be interested: Barcelona

Welsh winger Gareth Bale, 22, recently signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur. The deal would keep him at White Hart Lane until 2016.

But ESPNSoccernet has cited unnamed sources in reporting Bale could still leave the club if a potential suitor "wanted the player badly enough."

How badly? A thoroughly unlikely £80 million, apparently.

Robert Lewandowski

Who might be interested: Manchester United, Arsenal

As Euro 2012 began, Poland manager Franciszek Smuda claimed Polish forward Robert Lewandowski was on his way from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United (Goal.com). Dortmund quickly denied the story (The Independent).

More recently, Lewandowski has been linked with a move to Arsenal (London Evening Standard). The Gunners might be looking to replace Robin van Persie.

Jakub Blaszczykowksi

Who might be interested: Liverpool, Lazio, Inter Milan

Polish captain Jakub Blaszczykowski, a teammate of Robert Lewandowski's with both Poland and Borussia Dortmund, has been drawing interest from multiple clubs, according to his agent (Goal.com).

Liverpool, Lazio and Inter Milan were all mentioned by Kuba's agent. Blaszczykowski, 26, has one year left on his contract with Borussia Dortmund.

Stevan Jovetic

Who might be interested: Arsenal, Chelsea

Another potential replacement for Robin van Persie at Arsenal might be Fiorentina's Montenegrin forward Stevan Joveitc (Metro).

The Gunners, however, would need to meet Fiorentina's reported £20 million asking price and beat interest from English Premier League rivals Chelsea to sign him.

Andre Schurrle

Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly turned down Chelsea's £16 million bid for German international Andre Schurrle (The Guardian).

A top Leverkusen official claimed Schurrle, 21, wants to remain with his current club.

Joao Moutinho

Who might be interested: Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur

Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho shined for Portugal at Euro 2012 and subsequently drew a reported £25 million bid from Manchester United (ESPNSoccernet).

Tottenham and new manager Andre Villas-Boas—who previously worked with Moutinho at Porto—are also thought to be considering a bid (Goal.com).

Hugo Lloris

Spurs reportedly bid £16 million recently for French international keeper Hugo Lloris (Daily Mail), and L'Equipe is reporting that Tottenham and Lyon have already opened talks (Daily Mirror).

Brad Friedel, Tottenham's current starting keeper, would welcome the move, according to The Sun.

Andy Carroll

England forward Andy Carroll cost Liverpool £35 million in 2011. Now he might leave the club for much less.

Carroll has been linked with a £10 million return to Newcastle United (Belfast Telegraph), as well as various loan moves for the whole of next season (Daily Telegraph).

Demba Ba

According to talkSPORT, Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is "focusing on" keeping Demba Ba at the club.

Ba, a 27-year-old Senegal international forward, has been linked with several Premier League clubs.

Yohan Cabaye

French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye is an £8 million target for FC Barcelona, according to The Sun.

Cabaye, 26, joined Newcastle United from Lille in 2011.

Clint Dempsey

Earlier this week, American international midfielder Clint Dempsey was close a £7.5 million move from Fulham to Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror.

More recently, Metro has reported that the deal is "on the rocks," with Fulham holding out for £10 million.

According to Goal.com, Bundesliga clubs Hamburg and Schalke are interested in signing Dutch international forward Rafael van der Vaart from Tottenham Hotspur.

Neither, however, are reportedly prepared to meet his wage demands. For now, VDV remains in North London.

Edin Dzeko

After spending much of last season on the bench at Manchester City, Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko could be set to move on.

AC Milan have reportedly made contact with Manchester City over a deal for Dzeko. The potential transfer could cost as much as £20 million (Daily Mirror).
