Arizona Cardinals: 5 Veteran Free Agents the Cards Should Bring in for Camp

Andrew NordmeierJun 7, 2018

With the start of training camp a couple weeks away, here's a quick look at five veteran free agents that the Cardinals should consider bringing in.

Running backs Cedric Benson and Ryan Grant are both viable options for Arizona. Grant is seeking a return to form after missing all of 2010 with an ankle injury that he suffered in the first week of the season. Benson was the starter in Cincinnati last season before getting cut.

Both of them offer strong options at running back should starter Beanie Wells falter or get hit with the injury bug. Yes, Ryan Williams is a serviceable backup, but his skills remain largely unknown after being injured during last year's preseason.

Wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker could also be an interesting option for wideout on the lower rung of the depth chart. He's been largely quiet after a breakout season in Jacksonville, but he still offers Arizona a chance to add to an already deep receiving corps at a bargain price.

Linebackers Ernie Sims and Gary Brackett also provides the Cardinals a shot at depth, even if they don't win a starting job. Arizona's linebackers are good, but could use the skill that Brackett (former Super Bowl champion) and Sims (a former first-round draft pick) bring to the table.

Despite a slim number of free agents that are currently available, Arizona has a chance to make their roster stronger .
