Chelsea FC: What Blues Must Do to Regain EPL Title

If Chelsea want to win the English Premier League, the Blues must completely change their mindset.

Chelsea had finished in the top three since 2004, and they won three titles during that span. Last year, however, Chelsea dropped to sixth, which was the club's worst finish in 10 years.

If Roberto Di Matteo and Co. want to overcome the juggernauts in Manchester, the Blues need to completely change how the team plays. Attacking needs to be a priority. The young players need to start seeing the pitch regularly. And the team needs to be a more cohesive unit.

Last season, Chelsea were built for the counterattack. They had a strong goalkeeper, one creative midfielder and Didier Drogba. This year, the team will look slightly different.

Petr Cech is still a great keeper; however, the midfield is stronger with Eden Hazard and Oscar joining Juan Mata at the center of the park. With three young, creative midfielders, Chelsea won't have to play as directly as they did last year. Additionally, without Drogba up top, the striker (whoever it ends up being) must be supported more often.

With those three midfielders pushing forward, Chelsea will have one of the most dynamic attacks in Europe. Accordingly, Di Matteo must adjust his tactics to support the newly found attack.

While Chelsea's legends have been great for the club, the younger players need to start playing more often. Frank Lampard and John Terry are great players, but they aren't the players they once were. As a result, they shouldn't be starting 34 league matches this year.

They should play a decent amount, but they shouldn't be the regular starters that they've been in the past. Gary Cahill and David Luiz could form a strong pairing in the centre of defense, they just need the opportunity. As for Lampard, the midfield will be extremely crowded this year, and he will need to earn every second of playing time (like he did last year).

With all that said, Chelsea need to stick together. Good teams need chemistry to become great. Last season, the Blues banded together and lifted the Champions League trophy.

In order to hoist the EPL trophy, they will need to do the exact same thing. Ignore the naysayers, come together and be the best English team for an entire season.

If Chelsea can unify under these principles, the Blues will lift their fourth Premier League title.
