The Doctor's Quick WWE Raw Recap List: The 30 Things We Learned, Loved and Hated

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 7, 2018

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to my weekly recap list. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, each week I recap Raw with a long list.

This week I am going to do something a bit different. I covered the Live Blog last night so I didn't want to just re-post the play-by-play which I already covered.

Instead, what I will do is list some of the things we actually learned, loved and hated from the show. If you would like a full breakdown from the show visit the Live Blog where I tried to provide my usual take on things.

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

I hope you enjoy this companion piece to the live coverage from Raw.

Things We Learned.

1. AJ wants to marry CM Punk. On Monday's Raw we witnessed the girl next door with a crazy streak propose marriage to the straight-edge superstar. Punk was less than thrilled at this prospect.

2. Daniel Bryan wants to marry AJ. This is obviously a ploy to gain favor with the ref for the upcoming match for the WWE title, something Punk was sure to point out.

3. WWE will take a former World Champion and job him out. Jack Swagger continued his streak of bad luck in a loss to Sheamus in under three minutes. Swagger was once being looked at as the next Kurt Angle and now it looks like he will be the next Charlie Haas.

4. Tensai is still pissed at Tyson Kidd. After Tensai and Ziggler beat Kidd and Christian in another very quick match, we saw Tensai attack Kidd after the match.

5. Vickie might be interested in Tensai. During the attack we saw Vickie look adoringly at the tattooed monster as he demolished the last graduate of the Hart Dungeon.

6. Drew McIntyre is in the same sinking boat as Swagger. Brodus Clay is back to his usual shtick after a quick squash over the Scotsman. D-Mac didn't even get his own entrance, which is never a good sign.

7. Kane and John Cena no longer hate each other. During their tag team match with Jerishow, we saw no signs of animosity from their brutal feud.

8. WWE forgot how to book a show. We witnessed four matches which all lasted less than three minutes and the longest match of the night between the four MITB participants ended in a DQ decision.

9. Jerishow will not be getting back together anytime soon. Big Show used a ladder to make Jericho suffer before Cena knocked him out of the ring with a ladder of his own.

10. Seventy-five percent of the WWE Universe apparently wanted to see Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler have another match.

11. Sin Cara is the final participant in the SmackDown MITB match. Why this match didn't just happen on SmackDown is a mystery. They could have used the time for this match to extend one of the shorter matches from earlier.

12. Bob Backlund still has it. The man who is the second longest-reigning WWE Champion of all time came down and put Heath Slater in the same hold he used to beat Bret Hart for the WWE title, the Crossface Chicken Wing.

13. Lawler always gets screwed when he faces Cole. The anonymous GM returned last night and reversed King's win over Cole after Booker pushed Cole back in the ring.

14. Santino is no Sherlock Holmes. The Italian rapscallion was searching all night for the anonymous GM, which concluded with Santino pulling the GM out from under the ring and finally revealing his identity.

15. Hornswoggle was the anonymous GM all along. Thank God that storyline is over, but didn't the anonymous GM also put little Horny through some hell? How would he have been sending those E-Mails while he was in the ring listening to them?

16. Daniel Bryan will take a loss for "true" love. D-Bry refused to tag in Eve during their mixed-tag match against AJ and Punk, allowing AJ to roll up Eve for the win.

17. CM Punk did not accept the proposal from AJ. At first she looked sad, but the she slapped the taste out of his mouth. AJ doesn't want to marry Bryan, either. She gave Bryan the ole five-finger hello on her way out of the ring.

18. The Rock is returning on the 1000th Raw in two weeks. Cole informed us that Rocky is still promising he will win the WWE Championship at some point in the future.

19. AJ is crazier than ever. After the two slaps in the ring she skipped up the ramp with a big smile on her face doing the usual "Yes" chant that she has slowly been stealing from Bryan.

20. AJ is WWE's favorite new Diva. Two weeks in a row we have seen the closing moment of the show focusing on her. When was the last time a Diva could make that claim?

Things We Loved.

21. AJ's insanity. This girl has really shown that she has not only in-ring skills, but an uncanny acting ability which takes some Divas years to get down, if ever.

22. Ryder is back! Zack Ryder is finally getting some regular screen-time again and he does not seem to be shaken from a de-push he received recently for what seemed like no reason at all.

23. The anonymous GM storyline is over! I am just happy it is no longer the biggest loose thread in recent history.

24. Bob Backlund. It is always awesome to see this guy. He is one of the most underrated wrestlers when it comes to the new generation. We always hear about the Savages and the Flairs and the Sammartinos, but we never seem to hear about Backlund. I am glad the WWE universe showed him some love with a "You still got it!" chant.

25. Tensai and Kidd might keep feuding. With the attack after the tag match, we saw Tensai continue a feud which could help finally bring Tyson Kidd to the forefront.

Things We Hated

26. Short matches galore! Four matches on Raw were essentially squash matches, one of which saw a former World Champion take two Brogue kicks.

27. Cole and Lawler lock up one more time. I cannot believe that the vote was 75 percent in favor of this match. Who was keeping track of this? Can we hold WWE to a recount? I want that time back!

28. Slater's win over Doink led to nothing. The one-man band basically lost twice in a row on Raw. Although the encounter with Backlund was not technically a match, he did tap out vigorously.

29. The only match that was given decent time ended in a DQ. It's like the Vince Russo-WCW years all over again.

30. Hornswoggle was the GM? Seriously? Whatever, it's over and that is all that matters at this point.

Thanks for reading and please feel free to share your thoughts on Raw below. Also, let me know what you think of this shortened format. It is possible I will be doing some more live recaps of Raw in the future and it would help to know if this works as a companion piece.
