Adrian Peterson Mugshot: Why Does Vikings Star Seem so Happy to Be Arrested?

Adrian Peterson was recently arrested, giving him an opportunity to show his pearly whites in this brand new mugshot, perfect for his passport photo. 

The Minnesota Vikings star running back had a busy weekend, getting arrested by police officers in Houston and then saying cheese for his mugshot shortly thereafter. 

For those wanting to see what an amused Peterson looks like, take a gander at the tweet sent out by ESPN 1500's senior editor, Tom Pelissero:

There are only a few possibilities for why a freshly-arrested man could look this calm in the face of jail time. I have them as the following, but I welcome your ideas in the comments section.

• The officer taking mugshots is hilarious.
• Taking mugshots tickles. Please don't ruin this assumption for me in case they don't. 
• First Take is on in the background. 
• Adrian Peterson can't wait to defend himself. 

I am always amazed at celebrity mugshots. A good portion of them feature smiles where frowns should be. It's as if they were in a photo booth at Disneyland. 

The Vikings star was arrested over the weekend for resisting arrest Saturday in Houston. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Peterson has hired high-profile attorney Rusty Hardin, the lawyer who successfully defended Roger Clemens recently. 

He also harnessed his inner Winston Churchill with this tweet:

It seems that Peterson is itching to give his full account of the night's festivities. I am not sure this is what caused him to smile when most of us would be soiling our pants, but I am sure that confidence didn't hurt matters. 

I join many of you who are already interested in this case to see how it resolves itself.
