Will John Isner Repeat as Singles Champion?
John Isner is coming off a disappointing first-round upset at Wimbledon two weeks ago, but can begin to repair his confidence with a repeat victory at Newport this July. Isner became the first top seed to win the Van Alen Cup last year, and will make his fourth appearance at the ATP season's final grass court tournament of the year.
At age 27, Isner has plenty left in the tank, especially considering that just this past weekend a near-31-year-old Roger Federer conquered Wimbledon for the seventh time in his storied career. Isner should and will be the favorite in Newport this week, as he looks to become just the fourth player in history to win back-to-back titles at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.
