Federer vs. Murray: Live Analysis of Suspended Wimbledon 2012 Men's Final
The epic Wimbledon 2012 final between Roger Federer and Andy Murray has been suspended due to a rain delay in the third set.
The match is even at one set apiece. Murray surprised early to open a one-set lead after taking the first set, 6-4. But Federer stormed back in an intense second set to knot it up with a 7-5 set victory.
Murray could easily be up two sets to none at this point. Federer edged Murray by the slight score of 40-38 in total points won for the second set.
The third set saw one game go to each player before play was suspended with the third set's score at 1-1. Federer leads the third game of the set, 40-0.
Murray has been in top form so far in the biggest match of his life. He came out and broke Federer in the match's opening game and took a 2-0 lead before falling back 3-2.
A Britain native, Murray leads Federer slightly in aces with a seven-to-six advantage. But the biggest advantage for Murray on the stat line is undoubtedly unforced errors. Federer has a momentous 25 unforced errors to Murray's 10. Although, not all were due to sloppy shots by the Swiss star.
Murray has been aggressive, and his defensive position tends to be beneficial to counter Federer's creative shot selection. But Federer has still been able to thread the needle and get some magnificent shots past Murray. He leads in winners, 34-26.
One of Murray's biggest knocks has been his confidence level and getting inside his own head. Even though Murray seemed jittery and nervous upon entering the court, he found comfort in his own play early.
Federer doesn't seem willing to let Murray stay in his comfort zone, however, and he made a late surge in the second set to make things interesting at this intense Wimbledon final.
