USA Basketball Roster Selection Show: Start Time, TV Schedule and More

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

The 12-man roster that USA Basketball will select to take on the challenge of winning the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London will be announced on Saturday night.

NBA TV will be the destination for all basketball fans who are eagerly anticipating the selection of the next great American basketball squad.

While many players, such as Kevin Durant and LeBron James, are locks to make the team, there are probably a few reserve spots that USA Basketball could fill in several different ways.

My Predictions for the 12-Man USA Roster

Starters

PG: Chris Paul: The Clippers star should start if healthy.

SG: Kobe Bryant: The Lakers veteran would bring a wealth of experience and talent to the squad.

SF: Kevin Durant: The Thunder star is a lock to start at small forward.

PF: LeBron James: The Heat forward would dominate at any position.

C: Tyson Chandler: The Knicks star is the obvious choice to start at center.

Reserves

Deron Williams: You could make a strong case that Williams should start over Chris Paul.

James Harden: He's a better option than Eric Gordon because he can be a playmaker and a reliable scorer. His one-on-one defense is also better than Gordon's.

Russell Westbrook: His ability to play PG or SG would add some nice versatility to the squad.

Andre Iguodala: His great defense and strong scoring ability makes him a more valuable addition than Anthony.

Carmelo Anthony: The Knicks star is too talented to not include on this roster.

Blake Griffin: The athletic Clippers forward would be fantastic on the fast break, and he would also add another quality rebounder.

Kevin Love: All-around power forward who can be a force in the paint and stretch the floor with impressive outside shooting.

Analysis

The available depth at center isn't great, but with Griffin, Love, Chandler, James and Durant on the squad, rebounding shouldn't be a major issue. The good news is that the guard depth is tremendous, and there will be no excuses for poor outside shooting during the Olympics.

The combination of youth and veteran experience will give the Americans a phenomenal chance to win another gold medal.
