TNA Destination X: Will Austin Aries Surprise by Becoming New World Champion?

Austin Aries may very well be at the highest peak in his wrestling career thus far. Aries has terrific agility when wrestling in the ring and works very well when speaking on the microphone. He has held the TNA X Division title for a lengthy period of time and will be challenging Bobby Roode for the Heavyweight Title at the Destination X pay-per-view. Not only has he suddenly placed major importance on the X Division, but also on TNA Wrestling.

However, standing in his way is current TNA Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode.

Roode is also another terrific talent who has been getting the biggest push of his wrestling career. He has not backed down from anyone when it comes to his title defense, even if he wins because the referee was not looking at his next move. He has become one of the best heels in professional wrestling and an all-around talent.

What happens if Aries can pull away with a victory? Would TNA pull out a surprising move for fans?

Chances are that Roode will still be champion, simply because of the buildup brewing with him and former tag team partner James Storm. TNA has been producing a terrific product over the past two months and having Roode with no title would be a new twist, but it would also disrupts any potential storyline with Storm. 

TNA has pulled switches on who should wear the belt in the past. Since Roode won the title, he has truly become a stable and the longest-reigning World Champion in TNA history. In the world of professional wrestling, unpredictability brings out the best in television. 

Aries winning the title belt at Destination X would be just that: unpredictable. The chances are high for Roode to continue throughout the summer as the title holder till possibly Bound For Glory. Yet that could all change in a blink of an eye. TNA has done an excellent job building up this match to the point where Aries does indeed have a chance to capture the gold away from Roode. 

At Destination X this Sunday, the Roode and Aries matchup looks like it will be an exciting one to watch. Aries winning would throw the wrestling universe in a shock. Roode winning would give TNA the full green light to build what could be an epic feud between him and Storm.
