Manchester City Transfer News: Van Persie Could Win Champions League at City
The ramifications of Arsenal captain Robin van Persie's shock decision not to re-sign with the Gunners look set to continue, with Manchester City defender Kolo Toure believing that should the Dutch international come to the Citizens, he could win the UEFA Champions League.
Van Persie's former teammate Toure made the comments via Mirror Football, where he emphasized the success that could be had if the striker made a move to the Etihad:
""Robin is a top player. I’ve played with him, I know him and he’s a great man. At City we have great players and the club does what it wants in transfers.
But, for me, if Robin comes it’s great because I know what he can do. You have to build your squad every year to do better. To win the Champions League is very difficult as we have seen..."

The 28-year-old won the English Premier League Golden Boot Award last season and had been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City over the transfer window—even more so now that he will not renew his contract at Arsenal.
Roberto Mancini is believed to be putting together a £220,000 per-week offer for van Persie, who would significantly boost the Citizens already-strong attack.
Both Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero were superb late last season for City and with Mario Balotelli firing for Italy at the recent European Championships, van Persie would no doubt make City the most dominant attacking team in the Premier League.
However, Arsenal remain firm that van Persie is not for sale this summer—insisting that he will see out the remainder of his contract, even if it means missing out on a significant transfer fee. From the team website:
"We have to respect Robin's decision not to renew his contract. Robin has one year to run on his current contract and we are confident that he will fulfill his commitments to the club.
"
No official bid has been made yet.
