Silva vs. Sonnen 2: There Is No Chance Rematch Lives Up to Massive Hype
The trash talk ends and the fighting begins. The hype that UFC 148 has been built upon has major room for an absolute downfall.
The first match was a classic. The underdog, Sonnen, took it to the champion for the entire fight, only to fall to submission with under two minutes left in the fight.
With that epic match and the followup trash talk, all the hype will only lead to shortcomings.
The trash talk has been so epic, there is no way the actual fight can live up to the words that have been spoken. Sonnen, in classic form, has led the verbal onslaught with attacks on Silva's country, family and legacy.
Silva, on the other hand, has finally spoken back. He says that he is going to beat Sonnen so badly that he is never going to be the same. He has stated that Sonnen doesn't respect anything and that he will be the one who teaches Chael some respect.
The press conference came and the hype continued to build. Sonnen put on a great performance, complete with humorous insults and pro wrestling-like promos. Silva continued his seriousness and vowed victory.
The weigh-ins saw a dust up, as Silva threw a hard shoulder at Sonnen's face. This has brought the hype to an all-time high. This leaves us with a conundrum.
With this insane amount of hype, the fight cannot truly live up to it. I am not trying to be a pessimist, but anything short of an all-time classic will be deemed as falling short of the hype.
I hope I am wrong. Either way, the fight will be enjoyable, as both men are entertaining.
Get your popcorn, crack a beer and get ready. UFC 148 is upon us.
