Paris Saint-Germain Set to Sign the Italian Messi, Marco Verratti

In a continuation of their summer shopping spree, Paris Saint-Germain has returned to their favorite super store. 

Serie A has already been the catapult for the likes of Javier Pastore and Ezequiel Lavezzi to arrive in Paris. Now the Parisian outfit has set their sights on Italian starlet Marco Verratti.

The 19 year old midfielder has many admirers, including Juventus and Napoli. Some have dubbed him as the Italian Messi. While no one should ever be saddled with those expectations, it shows the kind of talent ceiling his potential provides.

A more appropriate comparison may be to Italian Euro 2012 star Pirlo, as Veratti is more in the mold of a defensive midfielder with playmaking skills, as compared to the more attack minded Messi.

Verratti has been a regular for Pescara since he was sixteen. His play for the Italian club helped them to earn promotion to Serie A this past season. It is apparent with PSG's pursuit of Verratti that the capital club is not only looking at winning now, but continuing their winning ways well into the future.

Combining bright young talent like Verratti with established stars like Lavezzi and Pastore will take the pressure off of the Italian youngster to be the next big thing. Performing outside of the fishbowl that would be Juventus may also help the young midfielder reach his potential.

This would be a smart signing for PSG, as they would land an extremely talented young playmaker with tremendous potential. He would be able to gain experience with PSG while also adding valuable depth and flexibility in their lineup. 

Leonardo and Ancelotti have had a good deal of success with their efforts in Italy, and Verratti would be another fine catch.
