Why Kane Is the Perfect Fit in the Championship Feud

David LevinJul 6, 2012

Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing when it comes to professional wrestling. Especially with one major brand that cannot compete with itself.

Leave it to the WWE to harm itself by not having major competition.

When it comes to feuds, especially Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, the fly in the ointment, Kane, is a good thing right this moment.

Even if Kane is not the one challenging for the WWE Title at MITB.

What Kane does, with the mystique and the aura and the fan support, whether as a heel or face, allows the WWE to change its storylines and still keep the impact of the two major competitors for the title at MITB.

But it also does more than that. It has been 14 years since Kane has held the WWE Title, which says something not only about the talent of the WWE, but the fact that maybe creative control of the company has missed the boat on what could have been a very good run for Kane in the past.

Now, in his 40s, Kane is still a major attraction and gives a new breath of air to a rivalry that, if continued on the same path, will lose its fanbase because it is the only thing that really works right now.

Like I said, leave it to the WWE to out-think itself in this situation.

Here are some other reasons why Kane works in this situation.

Contrasting Styles

1 of 5

Two guys who almost mirror each other and one who is a bully and a bruiser.

I like it!

Kane can be the best in the ring and can hold his own with all types of superstars.

Both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan use various types of wrestling styles to beat down and abuse their opponents.

It seems Kane knows only one way to harm his challengers, and that is to go through them.

One More Title Run

Like stated before, it has been 14 years since Kane held the WWE Title. It would be great to see him do it again.

Because he is still prominent in the WWE's plans for main event status, this is not a "farewell" type of title run. Kane can still deliver in the ring and can hold his own again Bryan and Punk and other superstars.

And if he were to win the WWE Title, even if he plays the role of heel, he would still be embraced by the fans as a loved superstar.

Another Love for A.J.

Let me just say how I hate this storyline.

But in the interest of fairness, A.J. can really keep a man's attention.

The idea of having the "odd" man in the love-tryst makes for interesting drama. And while the WWE is hoping that Bryan and Punk will battle it out with A.J. ringside, having a tortured soul falling at the feet of a crazy chick is alright with me.

And in the end, maybe the beast does get the beauty after all.

Keeps Punk and Bryan from Being Boring

4 of 5

Like I said, too much of a good thing is boring.

Steamboat/Flair. Flair/Sting. This adds drama.

Chalk this up to the WWE and its inability to really create a good storyline. Kane comes in to the picture because he does not have anyone else to run a program with. And because of that, he becomes even more popular.

Bryan and Punk are the two best performers in the business today and maybe it leads to a reversal of character for both of them. But while Kane is in the picture, everything remains unpredictable.

Allows Us to Like Him and Hate Him at the Same Time

5 of 5

Kane is one of those characters with history.

His shtick is great, his entrance is great and he is one of the safest men to be in the ring with.

And he can still bring it each night.

Whether he is a favorite or a heel, he is still loved based on his body of work and the fact we never know what he will do next.

He should also keep Punk and Bryan guessing as well.
