WWE Rumors: Vince McMahon, Undertaker and Friday's Top WWE Buzz

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

Experimentation is a funny thing in wrestling. WWE often feels like it is experimenting with a lot of things, despite not having a good handle on much of anything.

In some ways, WWE needs to keep trying to experiment with certain things. Pushing performers like A.J., even though I hate the angle they are using for the CM Punk and Daniel Bryan match, is an interesting formula to try out.

Even if it doesn't work, as I believe it won't, it is something new. For a company that too often feels stuck in its bad ways, I guess we can consider this a positive. Right?

We will break down all the latest experiments in the mind of Vince McMahon and what could be in store for WWE.

UNDERTAKER POSSIBLY MAKING TWO MORE APPEARANCES

On Thursday we talked about reports that WWE was looking into having Undertaker work a match at Survivor Series. It turns out that there could be two appearances for the Dead Man the rest of the year, with the other possibly being at the 1,000th Raw.

Question on Everybody's Mind: What do we do with all these Undertaker appearances?

Our Take: It's getting out of hand. Next thing you know, he will start showing up at house shows. In all seriousness, if he shows up to work a match at Survivor Series, we should be lucky. He has settled into the one-match-a-year schedule and if he doesn't want to do more, he doesn't have to.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Legends Returning

I would be shocked to see Undertaker wrestle at Survivor Series. Unless WWE has some great storyline and opponent (Brock Lesnar), then he should do it. I don't know why WWE would use that match on that show, so just look for him at the 1,000th Raw and consider anything else a bonus.

AJ DESTINED TO BE THE NEXT ELIZABETH

If you haven't been paying attention to WWE lately, you have missed the biggest push the company has given any diva in a long, long time. Even more than Kharma, A.J. has become WWE's go-to female. Apparently fans should expect to see a lot more of her in the coming months, even after this whole Punk-Bryan thing is done.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will WWE's plans work?

Our Take: There is a school of thought that if you keep pushing someone like they are a star, eventually fans will perceive them that way. A.J. is not going to be wrestling, so the success or failure of the character depends on her ability to connect with the audience. Right now, I don't see it working out. The whole psycho gimmick is so cartoony that it is hard to get into.

Hype Meter: 2 out of 5 Crazy Women

At least A.J. is something new. I would prefer that Kharma comes back and WWE pushes her like the biggest and best female performer on the roster, because she is. It is unclear why Kharma isn't back yet, so who knows when we will see her again.

WWE WANTS ALL BUT ONE PPV ON THE IMAGINARY NETWORK

For those fans who still hold out hope WWE will actually have its own network at some point, here is some good news. Reportedly, the company plans on putting all of its pay-per-views except WrestleMania on the network, as well as keeping them on pay-per-view for people who don't have the network.

Question on Everybody's Mind: What will happen with the network?

Our Take: Right now, who knows? WWE wants everyone to think it is going to launch at some point in the future, but its business plan was so horrible. It didn't have a building, deal with cable or satellite providers, or any kind of staff to put things on. Other than that, it was ready to go.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Signs of False Hope

I would like to see what WWE could do with a network of its own, and I think putting pay-per-view shows on the network is a smart business plan, yet things are so far away from being able to launch that any news on programming should be taken with a grain of salt.
