Phoenix Suns To Have a Busy Monday
The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill
As the NBA All-Star Weekend concludes tonight with the showcase of the game’s biggest stars in Phoenix, the host team will resume business Monday. Things look to be very busy.
As we previously reported, all signs are pointing to Terry Porter being fired Monday. The Arizona Republic also reports that Phoenix may reconsider the trade offer with the Portland Trailblazers of Jerryd Bayless, Raef LaFrentz, and a first-round draft pick for Stoudemire. As Thursday’s deadline approaches, the Suns seem intent on making a move to change the culture of their franchise.
In other news, a veteran point guard that may be on the move to the Blazers is Andre Miller of the Sixers. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Miller, who is a free agent at the end of the season, may not return to the team
Conventional wisdoms says to, rather than let him walk, trade Miller for a draft choice or a young player.
A potential deal if the Blazers don’t move Bayless in a deal for Stoudemire would be trading him along with LaFrentz for Miller and cash. Stay tuned…
In Vince Carter news, Nets GM Rod Thorn spoke with the Newark Star-Ledger today, and stated there is no deal in place to move Carter right now, though many teams have talked to New Jersey about his availability. Among them are the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets, who both are sure-fire playoff teams, but may feel they are one player away from getting over the top this season.
