Alabama Football Recruiting: Derrick Henry Names Tide Leader, Sets Decision Date

Andrew KulhaJun 1, 2018

Alabama football fans may want to start gearing up for yet another great player to come their way, as it appears 5-star athlete Derrick Henry considers them to be the leaders regarding his recruitment.

Earlier today, Henry took to Twitter and filled us in that the Crimson Tide have indeed rolled to the top of his list:

"

Alabama is my LEADER ! 🐘 #Tide

— Derrick Henry  (@KingHenry_2) July 2, 2012"

While the Crimson Tide may be the front-runners, Georgia and Tennessee have also made offers to Henry (per Rivals.com). He also addressed those two schools via Twitter:

"

UGA & TENN y'all are still in my Top & I appreciate every single of you . This is a #Blessing for me & I'm just thankful .

— Derrick Henry  (@KingHenry_2) July 2, 2012"

If Henry does indeed commit to the Tide, it would be yet another huge win for their program. They currently have the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation, according to Rivals, and the addition of Henry would make them even stronger.

Rivals and 247Sports have him listed as the No. 1 athlete prospect in the nation, and 247Sports considers Henry a 5-star prospect (Rivals labeled him a 4-star prospect).

He's got a ton of size for a running back at 6'3", 240 pounds, and he runs with the power that you'd expect from a player of his stature. He gets downhill fast but still possesses the athleticism and elusiveness of a smaller, shiftier back—which makes him incredibly dangerous.

With his size and running ability, there's no question Henry could become an excellent running back in college football.

The only question that remains is, where will he commit? In response to a question regarding when he will announce, Henry tweeted one simple word:

"

@Niebuhr247 December

— Derrick Henry  (@KingHenry_2) July 2, 2012"

Will the Crimson Tide be receiving yet another talented player to add to their 2013 class, or will some other lucky program be able to lure the talented player away from the current leader?

I guess we'll have to wait until December to find out.
