NFL Mock Drafts and Combine News

NFL Draft Jabber

The NFL Mock Drafts are hot and the NFL Combine is coming up fast.  Where do the mockers have your team leaning?  Who should you be watching at the Combine?  What was that girl’s name on Seinfeld that sounded like a female body part?  Let’s have a look around the Net at some NFL Draft Jabber…

Junkyard Jake’s NFL Draft Page gives you several options for following the NFL Draft that is off the beaten path.   Complete with an NFL Mock Draft, NFL Draft Links, NFL Draft Prospect Rankings, and news feeds.  One of those “One Stop Shops” if you will.

For those who do not have the NFL Network, you can pretend at NFL.com by watching it there.  Pretty cool offering.  They must have realized they will make more friends doing that than thinking we will run out and get it if we can’t see the Combine stuff.

Don’t you get sick of hearing about all these guys that we already know are going to go in the first round?  YAHOO! Sports has some sleepers to watch.

The College All-Star games come and go pretty quick.  We hear how the big names did in the media but some people want to know about the lesser-known names.  NFL Draft Dog has some hidden gems in his College All-Star Games page.  Check’em out!

The press is preparing itself for the “I told you so” if the Lions do not go QB by subtly putting out there that maybe they should not take a signal caller.

Checking on the NFL Draft Prospects is a bit easier using College Football Stats.  Nice place.

NFL Mock Drafts should be shaking up in the next few weeks after the combine.  For now, there are many that update every few days swinging with the latest news on the prospects.

This morning I have been going over our partner mocks in our Mock Draft Database.  Let’s share, shall we?

Matt Stafford continues to be the front runner in 80 percent of the partner mocks listed.    Others mentioned as the Top Pick are Mark Sanchez (2), Eugene Monroe (1), and Andre Smith (1).

Something happening in a couple of the non-partner mocks listed, that can only be described as…well…silly…is Aaron Curry going No. 1 overall.

Not taking away from Curry, but OLB is not a hot spot for the No. 1 pick overall (LB has been taken No. 1 overall only THREE times since 1950).

If the Lions stray from the QB option, it is more likely that they start building at the O and D lines outward.

Brett Favre has retired again, bringing QB talk to the NFL Draft for the Jets.  The Football Expert has the Jets taking Mark Sanchez at No. 17…

"

17.  New York Jets - Mark Sanchez, QB, USC
Brett Favre is now officially retired, again.  The Jets don’t seem to have any faith in Kelly Clemens as their future quarterback, so the Jets take their franchise quarterback.

This will be a tough move for the Jets as you would expect Rex Ryan to want either James Laurinaitis or Tyson Jackson, who both would immediately help out his 3-4 defense.  But the rule is: If you need a franchise quarterback, and he is on the board, you can’t pass him up.

"

Fantasy Football Xtreme has Iowa’s Shonn Green moving up into the first round and landing with the Eagles.

Walter Football is on board with with those thinking that Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree will not go past the Rams at No. 2 overall.

That will do it for today.  Football Jabber will swing back at you later in the week as we see the pre-combine mocks shape up.
