Top-seeded Novak Djokovic cruised past Viktor Troicki 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 and appears to be on a collision course with No. 3 seed Roger Federer. Federer also won on Monday, dispatching Xavier Malisse 7-6 (1), 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

Federer reached his record 33rd straight Grand Slam quarterfinal, extending his Open era record. Djokovic and Federer would meet in the semifinals if they both win their next matches. The Swiss superstar will face Mikhail Youzhny (26th seed) in the quarterfinals after he bested Denis Istomin 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5.

Djokovic will face the winner of Richard Gasquet and Florian Mayer's match that was suspended due to rain. Mayer led 3-6, 1-2 when play was stopped.

Tenth-seeded American Mardy Fish was leading fifth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 1-1 when his match was suspended, while Britain's Any Murray was ahead of Marin Cilic 7-5, 3-1 when it was halted.

Women's draw

The big news on Monday was former champion Maria Sharapova's shocking exit from the tournament. The 25-year-old top seed fell in straight sets to No. 15 seed Sabine Lisicki 4-6, 3-6. Second-seeded Victoria Azarenka is now the top seed left on the women's side as she cruised over No. 14 seed Ana Ivanovic 6-1, 6-0.

Sixth-seeded American Serena Williams struggled but overcame Yaroslava Shvedova 6-1, 2-6, 7-5, while third-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska cruised to a win over Camila Giorgi 6-2, 6-3. Fourth-seeded Petra Kvitova also reached the quarter finals with a hard-fought 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 win over Francesca Schiavone.

Former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters fell to eighth-seeded Angelique Kerber 6-1, 6-1 in what Clijsters says will be her final run at Wimbledon.
