Euro 2012: England's Penalty Villains Wanted for Remake of Classic Commercial

Dan TalintyreJun 4, 2018

Celebrate failure—it's the England way.

After another international tournament ended in penalty shootout failure for England, plans are in progress for a remake of an iconic 1990s advertisement to help ease the pain from Euro 2012, according to the Daily Mail.

Gareth Southgate cost England against Germany back in Euro 1996, but his subsequent Pizza Hut commercial with former penalty villains Stuart Pearce and Chris Waddle helped everyone involved move on from their heartbreaking defeats.

Now, Pizza Hut are campaigning for Ashley Young and Ashley Cole to do the same.

Both Young and Cole missed penalties in their recent loss to Italy at Euro 2012 and are trying to be convinced via Twitter to remake the classic commercial, which can be viewed below.

What the content of the advert would be still remains to be seen, but I'm thinking some sort of pizza buffet. Cole will move slowly and predictably left towards the garlic bread and Ashley Young will dive straight in.
