Manchester City Transfer News: Ezequiel Lavezzi Set to Snub City for PSG

Dan TalintyreJun 7, 2018

Once a prospective transfer target for Manchester City, Ezequiel Lavezzi is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with French side Paris St. Germain for next season.

According to The Sun, the Napoli winger has agreed to £77,000 per week for five years with the cash-backed French club and will wrap up a £21 million deal in the near future.

The deal will take place according to the player's manager, Alejandro Mazzoni, despite rumors linking Lavezzi to a potential move to England.

"We hope that the contract [with PSG] will be signed on Monday. There are still a few minor details to be discussed by both clubs but everything should be ready by Monday or Tuesday. It's difficult for Lavezzi to say goodbye to Napoli and once the deal will be completed, he will explain his decision to leave."

The news comes as another blow for Manchester City, who were reportedly interested in Lavezzi as a possible replacement for Edin Dzeko and Emmanuel Adebayor. Roberto Mancini will have to explore other options now, with the 27-year-old no longer a potential target for the Citizens attacking contingent.

Having said that, City are in no rush to find a new attacking midfielder or striker, with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and the in-form Mario Balotelli all set to play on at the Etihad next season.

And with the Robin van Persie rumor refusing to go away, Ezequiel Lavezzi really isn't much of a loss for the Citizens at all.

Will Manchester City pick up another attacker in the transfer window?
