2012 X Games: Hot Wheels Has Tremendous Double-Loop Event Planned
The X Games returns to Los Angeles to bring the best in extreme sports and, it seems, a gigantic Hot Wheels toy not for the faint of heart.
If you plan on tuning into any portion of the X Games, you may want to pay close attention on Saturday, June 30.
That's when a world record will be attempted in the form of a boyhood toy being blown up to epic proportions.
ESPN has more on the best news to come regarding loops and cars going around them:
"On June 30, drivers in a Hot Wheels double loop at X Games Los Angeles 2012 will attempt to break a world record for racing two vehicles through a six-story double vertical loop. Two drivers will accelerate to 52 mph, enter a 66-foot tall loop and hit seven times normal gravity as they drive through the loop.
"
Yay!
Two-time Formula Drift champion Tanner Foust will play his part on Team Yellow, and Hollywood stunt driver Greg Tracy will be on Team Green.
The two will fly down the course towards a gigantic Mattel Hot Wheels loop that looks familiar to any man who was lucky to have a pint-sized one when they were a kid.
If we haven't grabbed you by now, some fans of Infographics will love this from ESPN.
The follow-up promo video is all I need to get my geek on for the X Games. It's all about going big or going home at the best collection of extreme sports athletes.
Every year the big ramp seems to get bigger and more pizazz is added to tricks. This is literally the biggest thing to be added to the event this year, and I love it.
